so this morning i went to go get some oil for an oil change on my other truck and look what happens when a freaking dumb a$$ drives after new years and my air bags never deployed so i dont know what to do. the guy had no insurance either, i got full coverage and i don't know what to do about the air bags should i sue ford or who since the other car was completely destroyed but i don't have his pics at the moment but i'll post them up later.

its no ones fault the air bags didnt deploy...they usually dont in rear end collisions the sensors are in the front

that sucks!

and about the airbags..If the impact is not hard enough they wont deploy. My father had a head on crash at 45MPH in his silverado and they didnt go off...all he had was minimal fender damage and the other (toyota) Was Totaled!

That pisses me off when people don't have insurance. I don't think a lawsuit is in order in this situation unless maybe it's against the other driver.

damn thats a b!tch hope you called the cops. Airbag sensors are in the front of the truck so unless you hit in the front too a rear end collision would not likely trigger them to deploy. Good thing you alright tho. Trucks can be replaced, people on the other hand can't.

Report it to your insurance and they will sue the driver personally if they dont have insurance.

thanks for the helps guys i didn't know about the airbags that's why i was asking and i already called my insurance and they're taking care of it the other guys car is well dead completely i'l get some photos soon but my insurance says they'll do everything they can to get it out of him and to me the driver was intoxicated but they didn't do anything

I'm am going to assume that you called the cops when you got in the accident. If the cops were on scene then if the guy was intoxicated they would have investigated that and it would be in the police report.

I agree with this statement, and your insurance company will pay to fix your vehicle and go after him for the charges, and I don't know anyone who doesn't have uninsured motorist protection, did you? I sure hope so!

Sorry to see that about the truck, Atleast you're alright. The truck can be fixed or replaced, someone's life can't. That was quite some impact though.

not good.

I was rear ended new year's eve but not nearly as bad and it was due to snow covered roads, not a drunk driver.

no injuries just a headache and the bad thing is that i hit the steering wheel hard the guys mustang is totaled. i had stop to turn from the main street to my neighborhood street and all i heard was a hit but with the sound of a gun shot. he was at least going 50 or 60 in a 35 mph zone. my trucked moved like 20 feet from where i had stoped

Glad to hear you are ok. Thankfully, you as the innocent person was not hurt which is most often the case when a drunk hits someone.

Why would the Air bags go off if youre hit in the rear???

Stupid dumbasses. Drunk driving with no insurance! He deserves whatever he gets!

I'm confused. You say he was drunk? How do you know? Did you see something the police didn't or are you just assuming he was drunk?

I would say they will most likely total out your truck, due to the extent of the damage. They will most likely write you a check, then you can go buy a different truck.

Wish someone would do that to any, or all, of my trucks

To me he was drunk his eyes were blood shut red and he was wobaly the whole time and I'm sorry for my ignorance about where the sensors are for the air bags and I feel they should of deployed since I got hit pretty badly. I was at a dead stop and he came around 60 mph. But like I said pardon my ignorance about airbags on trucks I just belive they should deployed if you got hit that hard

Air bags in front don't do much good to cushion you from an impact in the rear.

Um just be careful about what you say if you personally are seeking any legal action. Deff do not type anything in here. And i would have wondered y the bags didn't deploy either i guess diff vehicles diff sensors. My moms van was rear ended barely and those bags shot out instantly.

If he was Drunk like you say, he would have been arrested at the scene I would think. :dizzy: glad you are alright, looks like he hit you really hard.

Ah gees, don't sue Ford just becuase they didn't put air bag sensors in the rear of the truck. They make head rests for a reason...so you dont get whipped lashed in a rear end'er :hammerhead:

Go after the guy instead.

I'm sorry I didn't know better I was asking questions so I can be better informed. I didn't know so that's why I was asking and I am going after the driver and there was police officers at the scene. I guess I was just frustrated since i know it's going to get me all tangled with my work. the truck is getting fixed

I would be wobbling too if I just rearended someone at 60mph. I would assume that his airbags went off so maybe his red eyes were from the powder that gets everywhere when bags deploy. Not too many drunk driving accidents at 9:00am (just an assumption on time). Just be thankful your ok and let your insurance fix your truck.

I would love to see the other car, if he bent a solid steel receiver hitch!

the other was a ford mustang gt I think an 03 model. I saw the inside of it to check if the driver was ok and his center consul where the radio and ac unit are at and it had been pushed out. I don't know exactly how much but I could see a big difference in the displacement of the center. The car was totaled no way to fix it I have some pics but they're from an old VGA camera phone I'll try to post them if I can
