View Full Version : underwater lights

I have a client with a pond that we put some lights in about 4 years ago. I received a call that one light was not working. We changed all the bulbs back in august. I went out there and put a new bulb in (this is no small task as I have to bring a john boat and row out to the middle) and it still did not work. I traced the wire back and it appears that something had chewed through the wire. Would a turtle chew on the wires? Any ideas??

get out the scuba gear and bury the wire under the rock.

I have had beavers, squirrels and chipmunks chew through wire. Not sure about Turtles though.
A long time ago now, I recall some information about denatonium benzoate (a very bitter substance) being put into the PVC jacket 'recipe' by some wire manufacturer. They claimed this would stop the chewing of the wire by rodents.
Just one of the pitfalls when installing in the great outdoors. Re-wire and move on.
