Just wondering if any of you guys have used them gps tracking units. Any recommendations for real-time gps to use for both tracking employees and incase of theft. Any alternatives you use?
There are a ton of options for tracking a machine or employee. There are affordable tracking devices for trucks and you can get a locator for a machine where the battery will last 6yrs and will do a locate once a day, if you are looking for recovery once a day should be enough. I am thinking of tracking all my stuff. I lost a JD Gator and even though I had replacement insurance which paid 2x the value I would have loved to have been able to recover it and catch the person. I tried the nextel locator and the damn thing worked less often then the nextel phone would.

I'm looking more like by minute. Save 15 minutes here-n-there from your employees taking those extra brakes or personal chores and you save huge $$. Looking for names, service providers. Power wise, as long as they can run off a car battery or equiv.
I am in the states so not sure if the same companies service your area. Just do a search for GPS locators and you will find more then enough. I am not a LCO so actually the way I bill out work accounts for every minute of my workers day. Time IN/OUT on job, travel time, lunch, shop time, pto, etc. Hope you find what you are looking for.

Get a Job clock system with pocket clock, best 2 grand I ever spent. I did not get the gps version, but is just what you need. I love mine, great reports, and can tell which guys are getting things done and which ones are not real easily, and works great with Quickbooks
