Are you puttin your handhelds in the bed of the p/u? Or are you just layin them on the floor like the rakes and shovels.. How do the mowers do goin up the regular equipment style ramps?

my handhelds are on the trailer for now i just got the trailer like 2 weeks ago and i'm still trying to fix it and add options to it since it's not just a mower trailer but a tree service trailer as well. the ramps have mesh on it like regular landscape trailers. I'll take some pics of it tomorrow. they go up very well without any problems. and I'm surprise about the truck, since it's not mine ( it's a rental) mine got wrecked here's a link to it http://www.lawnsite.com/showthread.php?t=256660 . i thought the truck will sink but it hardly did, which is good since it' well be my rental for like two weeks if the truck is even fixable

I ventured to the link with pics of your "rear-ended-ness". Horrible.
My friend, seek a specialist and have your spine and neck(especially) looked into. Sometimes it can take months, or even years, for either of these types of injuries to rear it's ugly head(s).
Did this person run into your trailer chock full of your livelihood? No equipment were damaged? He didn't end up in the same spot as your mower "was"?

i checked the doctors and i'm good, they tell me my bones are perfect or good but i thought differently since i have knee problems but it's heredity i got it from my mom and dad. i'm young and they said my bones are tough. no trailer was involved but he mustang was going 60 and i was in a dead stop when he rear ended me.

Nice rig, the f150 is definetly the toughest 1/2 ton out there. If you hooked that trailer to a dodge 1500 or even 2500 the bumper would be on the ground.

it's actually my last name, or families name. We're from Mexico and like we all know the spanish came to mexico so that's how we have a spanish last name. i love our last name and for that, our company name. no one comes near it. i've checked online about our last name and it's from spain, the name Mondragon, "dragon mountain" refers to the mythical victory of the artisans and the liberation of the iron ore once guarded by a dragon who terrorized the villagers near Mount Murugain. Which basically stands for dragon slayers

just lots of research online when i should be doing my universities studies. i think we're doing pretty well since my dad's business pays for three universities students all at the same time; not many people can say they have three kids in college and still be able to pay for them without loans and scholarships etc etc. Our truck is still at the body shop, i won't know till Monday about it since they still got to check it out. it was taken to where it was purchased when it was new, because that's one of the insurance's body shop. but in way i want a new truck but then i don't, since we got lots of expenses other then getting a new truck but we shall see. thanks for asking JosephLawnCare it's nice when people ask questions or give any sort of comments, good or bad, since you can always learn from them.

yep they are regular equipment ramps, but i had someone put the mesh on them very cheaply. I didn't get rid of them since i'll be needing them for the heavier equipment so i just adjusted with what i had available.

i think it all depends on what type of mulch you're going for i've always gotten the good old black mulch it has worked the best for my properties that we do the hardwood deco is best at other places and so on. but i bet the prices are higher then cjm i get the mulch pretty darn low

Try using wedges when your cutting the stump off...
I own a small tree and landscape company, i have a few saws. Please wear chaps, I have seen way to many injuries from people not wearing them. If you cut your leg off you will ruin the rest of your life… There only $70.

thanks for the compliment. though they're not turbo force deck, they work amazingly. The t-bars are so easy to use i don't think many people can say negative things about them. The T-bars are like a zero turn and they're effortless. We're in the need of another walk behind or stand on mower we shall see what we get. I want a grandstand but it's just to big i want something in the size of 36( which the grandstand doesn't have) or 42 which wright stand ons do have. oh well i'll have to decide soon.

I've tried everything with them to get it better but they're just to cheap and stingy. The whole place was hydro-seeded last summer and well it never came out nicely. It seems that here in Houston hydro-seeding is not the best way or it could be the actual seed that they're trying to use since it always looks horrible. lucky you, we were not finish till like 6:30 got home tired. This whole week was a pain since work fell behind bc of memorial day. Then we had a 3 day tree job which should have been 2 . Again memorial day was a thorn on us if not we would of been done earlier.

Looks great man. Is it just me or am I seeing a bunch or new guys starting to do this in our area? The other day I saw two white guys (rarely seen here) mowing a HOA. They had a tundra, brand new trailer, brand new cheap ztr, and a brand new cheap wb. The guy on the wb looked like he had no clue wtf he was doing. People like this make me laugh because you know they probably arn't going to last throughout the summer. Also how does your trailer treat you? How many yards of mulch can you get on it? I'm looking at getting one pretty similar to yours.

Yeah I've been seeing more and more people trying to do this job but give them the hot humid summer here in houston and they'll be eliminated. many are getting in cuz they think a mexican can do it why cain't i? but they don't know the hard work and don't know the price of equipment and running a smooth operation. It's been treating me fine i got a great deal at the time, thank god for that, they had robbed us for our landscape trailer and we bought it used from a guy around kingwood. paid $2000 but the guy only had it for six moths since he had bought it. Just get a regular landscape door not equipment ramps cuz they get heavy as the day goes off. but we kept the heavy equip ramps cuz we plan on using it for heavy equipment in the future as well. the trailer holds 12 yds of mulch for us and still has strength to hold another 3 or four but it doesn't have space. get some mesh built up like 2 feet or so on the side, like the one you currently have on your newer trailer that way you do have space on it to take what ever.
the trailer is a heavy duty pipe top with the 7,000 lbs axles, go with the heavy duty ones you never know when you'll need it. you won't regret getting the extra power on it. you might end up hauling it with the toyota cuz our f-150 really struggles with it, our f-250 is fine with it though. i suggest you going to THE TRAILER MAN he has the cheapest prices and can easily custom make you any trailer in any way you want. they might not be as shiny but you don't need all those clear coats of paint since they still come off, his trailers are very well built we do all of our tree service hauling with it and has never failed us, very strong built trailers and very cheap compare to the rest around town all they care is about being flashy and shinney. go with them and you'll save lots of money. i personally don't like the trailer boxes they put on trailers they damage our blowers and trimmers to easily. we're going to be getting blower racks four our blowers and a trimmer rack as well and plus it will look better and different from the rest driving around town. another thing you might want to get a 20 footer because it will not be much in price difference plus the extra space you'll get.

I know trailer man is cheap but his quality just doesn't look like its there. You know he uses used axles to make them so cheap?? Also he don't paint underneath so it rust faster? I'm going to be buying from Trailer Connection. They got high quality trailers. I want to buy something that will last for years to come. They got a trailer I'm thinking about getting. It's a 16ft. landscape trailer with 4ft. sides, side gate, weedeater rack, and cage, with the 5200lb axles. Thats the best of both worlds right there.

sorry to hear that you think he uses used axles, i personally went to where he makes his trailers, and those axles were brand new still in their boxed in their crates. I personally sent out our trailer to get a sand blast at the bottom and get painted, which came out better then any dealers paint ever will so to me that's not a factor. personally the guy at trailer connection is not the nicest person and thinks he knows everything of trailers but all he does is read a brochure and just tells us the information he doesn't talk personally or personal. all he does is buy trailers from trailmasters and sells them. not saying the trailmaster trailers are not good cuz they are, but i don't need extra glossy paint when all it will do is come right off and cost just as much to replace it exactly the same. the paint the trailer man uses has worked for us with limbs and trunks hitting the pipetops and sides there's been hardly any paint coming off. another buddy of ours bought a trailer from trailer connection and the axles broke on him with just a wb on it in less then two weeks and he (tailer connection dealer) didn't want to deal with it one bit. he didn't even call where he gets his trailers for warranty work. he made it seem as if he never bought the trailer from him. careful with him if i were you but maybe he's nicer with you.
oh and why go shorter you need to go bigger a 16 footer won't do you good, well atleast in my opinion. it all depends on what you're trying to carry with you when going to sites.
hows business with you.

i do like the side gate option though, our next trailer will have one for sure. Tool trailer box i'mnot a fan of it's not as easy to take out your equipment from those boxes, well they've never been user friendly for me, as in the trouble going into opening it and taking out your equipment from it.
oh i almost forgot the good news the cops found the trailer that was stollen i should be having it back soon, that one is a16 footer landscape body with the 4' sides and 5 foot gate and trailer box so you'll probably br seeing two crews in the weekends now
who knows in what shape it is cuz landscapers here do not take care of trailers

i hope he does work with you and it all goes well with you. a way that i look at it you want your equipment to look nice so show it off to potential customers. they'll see you got the right equipment. for me the way it works is that the trailer will be used for many things so get one that will be able to do that. if you don't do much heavy work then one with 5500 lbs axles will be fine but for us we use it alot for heavy work, for instance this weekend we're putting a whole bunch of pine tree trunks and it will handle great like always. just make a decision that wont take you back to the same that you have right now, selling the trailer you got from trailer connection, since it wasn't the right one. you need a bigger one that's for sure, since the one you have is too small or inssuficient. get it custom made if you even have too to please you. don't let it to where you're in the same position again.

i have sides that i made out of 3/4" treated plywood (painted black) to make them look nice and good and not crappy like you see around town. and i have 2x4 as for full side support so that they won't break. they come off easily and put on quickly as well so i really solved that problem easily and cheaply.

our truck was down for the weekend and getting major repairs on the front drive assembly from shocks to bearings and alignment problems and i think the said the exhaust manifold was fixed it came of the engine somehow. i suspect it was a late result from the accident we had earlier this year bc the exhaust was hit from behind and bent in several places. it's getting taken care of by the insurance and the collision center where it was suppose to get repair from the start. but here's the family vehicle 1998 ford expedition 4x4 great suv it handled the load like nothing it has the same engine size as our truck 5.4l v8

the sod is not completely installed all the way there is a gap left where the flower beds are going in.we paint the outline and leave around 2ft between the sod and the edge of the flower bed to work in. usually everything is done on the same day, but when there are multiple homes like this we install the sod first that way it doesn't get all soggy and muddy when it rains unexpectly and it looks much better to have sod in rather then flower beds in first. just our opinion and method of work some people do it the opposite way and works fine for them. it's really whatever suites you

Here's one of the reasons why I bought a heavy utility trailer with the 7000 lbs axels instead of the weak 3500 lbs landscaping trailer. What does everyone think? Oh the truck is my uncles that he let us borrow since our truck is still at the bodyshop getting fixed. It's a 1997 F-350power stroke diesel, I love it; what about yall.
So that trailer can hold 14,000 if I am reading it correctly and how did you get the sod loaded all the way up in the front. Thanks

it gets pushed with the pallet forks a lill forward (sometimes when i just have one pallet they have an extension to the forklift that pushes it) and then the other pallets push it even further. the extension is something like this it's a pdf file

yeah i hear you, at least houston and well texas wasn't hit as hard as the rest of the country but still it's sad (literally) that my dad and us,his kids, work so hard for this type of stuff to happen. we started from nothing literally (both my parents being illegal and yet be able to make a life and start a business. in my opinion we just need to get rid of such people with harsher crime punishments that way they are afraid to go to prison and not joy since everything will be given to them when locked up. we need to do like the hebrews, if i'm not mistaken, that cut of body parts depending on the crime and their crime rates have always been low

i understand about more harsh punishments, it seems here it has gotten so much better for the inmates, trust me i know as we have 5 prisons here and one directly next to our shop(built in security).
i would think they wouldhave less rights youknow. but cuttingoff hands and stuff is a bit far, what if they were wrongly accused??? that would suck!
oh, very nice trailer too and set up.
the comment of your parents being illegals i have to say does spark some anger in me as that is a serious issue here in this country. but, are they legal now??? i would hope and then as much congrats for making something of yourselves. That is the american way, and it is a good way. i am waiting for my non white boy guys to come and make my life easier. as in i want mexican workers that have a better work ethic, or so it seems anyways. youget the point

i know it sparks controversy to everyone but they are legal now. I just want to say not everyone who's illegal is bad and most of us do everything the right way as in we still report our taxes and everything. i'm still trying to finish my legal documentation i'm currently just a resident. most of my family the outside family (cousins aunts uncle's etc are illegal) but just bc they're illegal doesn't mean they don't want to become proper residents of this great country. many people say oh they're taking our jobs they're this they're that so on so on but in reality what are we doing wrong then just have a living. most legals wouldn't do the jobs we mexicans take yeah i do understand there is concern in crime and so on etc. but if you see the one's that are in jail are the legal one's the illegals they behave bc they want to be part of this country.
i just wish for people to stop judging before they get to know the people and i hope everyone here does that and just makes their mind up or already have a complete mindset of such things.
and my sister well i know she's pretty but sorry guys she's taken her boyfriend is a white boy lol and i mean really white.:laugh:

well i know if you get the wrong one then it's extremely sad and we can't just say oh well . but what i'm trying to say is we have to put a scare on people to prevent crime and prevent them from doing such things. give them something to think about before they do such things. that way our prisons are not completely filled and where they get treated like royalty at times (not rally royalty) but well of alot of stuff given to them. If you look back in time alot of people were not in jail bc they were terrefied to go to jail bc of treatment that was given inside and that made people not to do so many crime

I well basically started the business with my dad when I was 8 I would be more of a pest rather then a helper but It sure beats what kids do now a days. I'm not saying force them to work but get them out of the house make them active. I'm currently 21 going to 22 on July.I'm the one who runs the business now I make all the decisions and deal with the customers and what not. Customers love when you talk to them and not just about work but about personal subjects and I think I'm pretty good at doing that. I'm getting my bachelors in civil engineering but I like what I curretly do and I'm actually starting to get my associates in horticultural landscape design. I'll what I'll do with my life once I have both and choose what I'm more happy with . I'm leaning more towards the landscape business cuz I already enjoy what I do. My parents are happy and proud they never had a real education so they push us to have one that way you're at the same level as everyone else. I'm going for civil engineering my older sis has her bachelors in mathematics and is currently getting her masters,my brother that follows me is getting his batchelors in biology my youngest brother is going to Columbia university up in new York for biomedical engineering and we still have the baby of the family in high school she'll probably be going for mechanical engineering.
I'll make sure to take more pics of the climbers when we get more jobs.

my dad has had several years of experince especially working for the light company clearing power lines. But any how he makes what in spanish is called a pig knot on the section that's going to be cut and another pig knot that will hold on to the tree. the one that's attached to the tree has a ring that holds the rope coming down with the chunk that's being cut off. When cutting it he first cuts the side that he cants to push it towards to then he cuts the back and he pushes the cut off section and he braces him self for impact (he says is better then riding a bull idk if that's a good or bad thing lol) if there's no trees to help around it's bad but when there are other trees we use them that way the cut off section does not hit the tree and could cause him to fall. i'll have to take some video some time so everyone knows what i'm trying to explain cuz it's really hard to explain

if you look at the 2nd to last pic you see he's not cutting above his head it's around waist level and it's good to try first with smaller trees that way you go up to the big one. I've been learning on small ones but i haven't gotten to big ones yet it's a matter of lots experience and know to react at unknown moments since any second could fatily be your last. It's hard and dangerous work but can be easy and safe if it's done right

i would have to practice and do a lot of work before i felt safe up there. I tried on my first pair of spikes, harness, and chaps and got up to about 30 feet and nearly **** my pants completely letting go of the tree while i trimmed some branches off of a maple tree.

i forgot to explain a pig knot. a pig knot is good since it kind of does bc of its name. It keeps things from slipping the tighter it's being pulled the stronger it will hold. Once it gets to the ground it's easy to take off it doesn't tighten up like many other knots. a pig knot is used to keep pigs from slipping out the rope in mexico lol that's why my dad uses it and so does like every other mexican climbers we know

i used those knots to pull branches down from the ground, i threw on side of the rope about 15 feet up, tied the knot, and then pulled the tightening side of it, and it shimmies all the way up and the harder you pull and tighter it gets. MY uncle is a sailer, or owns a sail boat and knows a lot about knots so he tries to teach me
