It's not that expensive...

You can get your site designed plus domain & hosting for 3 years for under $1000.. I did.

You just have to look around.

i designed mine on yahoo web builder and it cost me $11 buks a month to host it!!!

My dad and I built my own. It only cost us for the domain and about $15 a year to renew it.

If you're computer savvy you can get Macromedia Dreamweaver or an equivalent an build it your self.

Or instead of forking out $400 bucks, get a free text editor like

I am just like KrazKajun. Built it myself on yahoo sitebuilder and the hosting costs me $11 or $12 a month. I've managed to get my site into the top 10 search results for just about every keyword I wanted to on yahoo, google, msn, and a few others as well. All by myself.

wow, that's quite expensive, I build my own on go daddy and it costs me 8.99/month.

Neither. Hands down favorite editor (in windows) is UltraEdit32.
In linux, it is a toss up at this point.
