Just thought I would post an update of what my rig looks like. It's nothing extreme but i definitely gets the job done. By the way i'm 16 years old and do about 10 lawns a week or so. I'm hoping to get more accounts this summer and expand if at all possible. Sorry for the picture being a little blurry. i'm not sure what happend. Please comment and let me know what you think.

Love the T-bar, best belt drive system around. Once you grow a little, you can get a bigger WB with a sulky.
Nice set up.

Nice setup! Everything looks to be in great shape. What size lawns do you cut with the 32''?

Petr51488 ya the mower looks a little funny just because it's a single spindle with only one blade and it's a floating deck. But it is a great mower. And I got a great deal on
And jonvan I cut lots and as many normal lawns as possible just bc it mulches great and gets lawns done a he'll of a lot faster then my old pushmower. The only problem is that in tight places turning that thing aroun you have to be careful not to tair up the grass. Otherwise it's a great mower

Yes definately. I will probally end up getting my grandpaw's truck which is a 2005 sierra 1500 with a 4.8L V8 because he is 83 years old and will probally be getting his license revoked soon because he is not the swiftest when it comes to driving but this will definnately be an improvement from my 4 cylinder S-10. And hope I will be getting it soon.but I just have no idea when

Looks like a great start for you, when all that echo stuff wears out I would upgrade to Stihl and a commercial 21 toro.

01-08-2009, 09:43 PM
And as for a sulky I will prob. Have to get one bc I just took on an 8 acre job and there is no way I'm going to be walking for that long. Plus the sulky will be paid off for it after the first time I cut it bc I think I'm getting $300 for it

Your doing an 8 acre lawn with that small mower? You'll be there all day.. literally..

Jusmowin, I was thinking the same thing bc I hear nothing but great stuff about Stihl. And as for the 21 I as thinking a Honda bc I want a good bagger since the the my walkbehind just mulches and some people just like bagging. How's the toro when it comes to bagging? Anyone know?

Petr51488 I need to start somewhere and $300 in one day is not bad for 16 year old. There was no way I was turning it down

if your doing 8 acres for 300:
A) they are getting a great deal
B) your mower is wayyyyy toooo small

By the way all it is or atleast use to be a cow pasture but they got to rid of the cows. All it is, is straight back and forth mowing. No blowing, edging, or trimming. Or if any trimming there would be little to none

01-08-2009, 09:58 PM
How much would you usually charge for 8 acres? I was thinking close to $40 an acre or so
FinerCutslawnCare
01-08-2009, 10:07 PM
I charge $85 an acre( that is normally with about 7 trees to trim) I think the lowest I have seen is $65 and acre. I wouldn't back off the trailer for that to tell you the truth.

aah do not listen to the negatives! Any person on here can not say (if they started at your age) that they have not bid like this. We all have made mistakes but we learn from them. I think it is a fair price if you had a 60 z but you have to start somewhere and keep your prices up and quality top notch! That will sell more thatn anything! Do not buy new until you have to!! Good luck everything looks good!

aahotard,
Looks great, keep working hard and you will do great. I don't do any mowing, just spraying. Most of my work is in Old Metairie, Uptown, Garden District and the Lake.
Where are you working mostly?

toro makes some weird mowers. That mower has a very good cut though, and its one of the easiest wb to operate. You cannot beat a T-Bar!

We have a shop/yard in Elmwood and an office in St. Rose.
By the way, back to the $300; I agree with you, AAH, $300 in a day isn't bad when you're 16!

Yes it really isn't, 8 acres 300 dollars and it should take him about 6-7 hours if it is just mowing. Pretty nice account for someone his
age.

Nice, clean rig! My only suggestion would be to get yourself a couple of traffic cones, If your drivers are anything like ours in Orlando. The last thing you want is some happy hour junkie smashing in to your equipment -- because most likely they wont have insurance.

I like it alot. Actually only have 10 hrs. on the machine. Picked up a couple of quarts from the dealer today to change the break in oil. Just got it in december but havent got to use it a whole lot since recently. love using it over the 21 anyday. has plenty of power with the 13hp to mulch everything i do for the most part. plus i got a great deal on it so yeah.

13 HP is a lot for just 32", thats good. Keep it up. Thats a lot more then I had when I was your age.
Edit: is it electric start??
aahotard
05-19-2009, 11:29 PM
no, pull start. luckily it starts every time first pull because pulling something with that much compression a few times would wear me out. its alot diff. than a 21. hah
