Between all the snow storms we are having and not seeing any stop in them i've decided to try and polish my wheels on my walker mower .... I dont know if you can or i'm just wasting time doing nothing anywaise but ....

Has anyone tried this before ? and if so what was the out come of it ? look good or crapy ? I just think that it would look sick to pull that shinny yellow walker out of the trailer and have them rims polished up . Let me know what you guys out there think of the idea ... Thanks

I think it is a good idea. I plan on doing some repainting on mine, maybe starting this week. I don't believe the wheels are powder coated, if they are scratched maybe a light sanding and a fresh coat of paint.

I think that would be awesome if you kept them shiny. If not I don't know how well dirty chrome would look. I know my wheels don't take long to get dirty. Maybe a good rinsing after every day will keep them some what clean.

I just put the standard light kits on mine. Right behind the seat with a bracket. They do a decent job and are out of the way.

Shine the wheels? You mean getting all the old paint off the rims (I can't believe they aren't powder coated) and somehow polishing the bare steel? That's not going to turn into chrome, lol.

I assume you mean clean up the paint on them, yes they look a LOT better when clean wheels. I've been trying to keep the wheels on my new walker clean, even a good cleaning once a month has been working.

So Rustoleum "sunburst yellow" is a close match to Walker yellow? I bought a spray can of yelow from my Walker dealer last winter, for like $18! This stuff is crap! Comes out thinner than water, have to spray a minimum of 4 coats to even cover the primer from showing through, a tiny but too much and most of it just runs off on the floor. Never seen paint like that before, quite a waste of money.

I have used the walker spray cans also. The key is to shake them until your arm goes numb and then still it takes many coats. I have had good results with that paint, but it is expensive. I prefer using my spray gun anyways. But that is real expensive.

Yes, I shook it to death  I agree, it's a PITA to apply, but it certinaly did make a hard finish. I suppose because it's so thin it gets into the pores of the steel and really hangs on better than paint that just makes a skin.

I'd like to add the lights too, but I really avoid mowing after dark...

I'm also going to add the Blower Lockout Kit (P/N 6541) to disengage the blower when I'm using the SD/Mulch deck. (Yes, I tried the plug, but after the 3rd use the blower sucked it right thru and into the hopper. It was damaged to the point then that it wouldn't stay in the hole for more than a few seconds before it would get sucked thru again. Darn 10.5" blower)

I've also modded a JRCO dethatcher mount to fit on the front of the deck on my old walker. Haven't mounted it on my new one yet.

Telling ya the sun burst will work no problem !!!! i paint my snow plow with it too and its bright and it sticks like glue the first shot !!! its the cheepest way that i have found to do it .

so your saying that that wheels are steel ? i haven't started to do the project just yet ... figured that i would start to do it then if it couldnt be done then i just paint then white again .

I just got done adding lights to all three of my Walkers.

I just got some steel straping 1/4" x 1" and some steel rod 1/4", looked at all the pics I could find (manuals and the internet) and went to it. I used some $10 lights from Harbor Freight.

They are not perfect and it took quite a few hours to build all three, but I have time right now. I also believe they are stronger than what Walker sells.

By the way each one cost less than $20, saved some $$$ (again my time right now is cheap).

The walker light bar is rugged, thats for sure. But there is no better satisfaction than a custom modification!

Well they are not aluminium, if that's what you were thinking...

I'd guess you could buy aftermarket rims. I'm sure there's fancy golf carts out there that use the same size and offset of rim that would have them in polished alum. or chrome steel.

sandblast them and repaint them would be the best option it would take you 15 mins to sandblast and maybe 6 hours to paint (mroe than one coat)

Hello, bumping this older thread about painting... I just tried the "sunburst yellow" and also another yellow (that appeared a little darker) in rust-oleum on my older Walker. OMG, not even CLOSE. The only thing they have in common is that they are yellow. No where near the same shade though.

Now I thought "aw, it's not that far off" and proceded to paint the periemeter of the deck and the front yolks... Oh crap, it's John Deere yellow, and looks awful. Now I'm on a quest for a spray can yellow that's closer to Walker yellow. Don't feel right leaving it the way it is now.

I took the white paint off the wheels and look what was underneath:) Oh and a pic of my homemade lights.

Ha Ha Ha... You are hilarious.

I saw a couple of those are the Walker dealker the other day. I think he said the price was $11,500. They were 23hp I thought. Never seen a 28hp walker?

The added foot pegs on the deck are strange to me. I guess for shorter folks they would be in a handy spot, for my long legs I'd have to remove them. Certinaly not the kind of machine I'd let an employee run! I think the chromed out models are perfect for the wealthy homeowner that just has to have the best of everything.

Yea, those footrest help keep your heels on the rubber pad instead of the chrome. All of them were 28hp but more like 13k, maybe your were 23hp if they were $11,500. Thats the price of a regular 26hp here. Customers that want their gas cut with the Catdaddy has received a 10% increase:laugh:

can you post a pic of the new door set up that is on that machine. I hear they changed the set up. I hope it fixes the few little problems we have with the rear door.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that! I was putting the eye on the new box as well. The whole box looks a bit different, but maybe it is just the door? I'm not sure, didn't ask. They totally did away with the hinged flap on top, thank god! and the door opens totally out of the way now. Why it wasn't designed in this way to begin with?? Yes, I think Walker copied Exmarks design. Serves them right for copying 90% of a walker.

Or you could purchase a 100,000 # MTGHS unit with commemorative serial number, 28hp EFI Koher V-twin, and the whole machine is all chromed out nicely. The Local Walker Dealer purchased one:) their wanting $13,500

Keeping your equipment stored covered or indoors does wonders, to keeping equipment looking new.

I am sold only problem we have had with walker is we run the 26 efi, big blower and the door would creep open and blow debris out the side until it gets plugged but this only occurs when it is dry out. Also is that supension seat worth it? Hands down best mowers we have ever purchased!

Thank you I have been wanting to see this improvement!

I will ordering another this spring along with a like new hustler super z. We have yet to find a mid mount that can perform.

Only time I had a problem with crap blowing out the side of the door was when the screen was clogged. (but it was when grass was wet). That was not with this one:laugh:. This hopper is 10.5 bushel.
NSP! It has 2 hrs and season hasn't even started:)
