I have an aluminum one from Alumne???. Anyways, it weighs less then 500 lbs and dumps 3000lbs. We love it. No more toting the dump trailer, then going back for equipment or vise-versa... We have the high sides so we can haul 6 yards of mulch to the jobsite.

Curious what your dimensions are for this? What type of truck? Are you hauling under your GVWR?

Actaully have it in a 97 chevy 3500 now. But we have had it in our 94 F150. We really overwork all our trucks on the GVW part. We make our F150 tote waay over what they say. Our dump unit is actually closer to 400lbs. Four bolts hold the dump frame through to the bed frame rails. Our is the lighter version only rated for around 3000lbs or so of dumping. 3300lbs and we have to help lift the front corners. Fits in the back of any 8ft bed. Tailgate of the bed cames off and stored, The dumpbed has a tailgate the comes off, hindges downs, or spreads. We use it for sod, rock, mulch, leaf clean-ups,,,you name it. Aluminum, si it don't rust. Up, dumps, down, and cruising in 45 seconds, no kidding! The extended sides are even with the bed sides...the botton narrows to fit in between the wheel wells. I'd have to measure. It is 8ft long though. I'd LOVE to have one for each truck. I wouldn't use our dump trailer again....well maybe for heavy rock!

...and the 6yds of mulch is packed in tight and hovering over the sides....we use our tarp to hold it in...well most of it. lol Actually a very good question, I'll measure and let you know.......got me wondering if I'm getting ripped on our mulch.....

I know I can get 9cuyds very comfortablly into our 14' dump trailer. Don't know the exact dimensions of mine either...something like 6.5' width and a little less than 3' high sides. If we get on top and rake the mulch into the corners we get get 10 in comfortably. We have had as much as 11 on there but there is a pretty big bubble in the middle and lots of hand shoveling during loading. We are legaglly aloud to carry something like 8200# in there. I assume mulch is 800# per yard...a little more depending on the moisture content.

If your bed length is 8' and your bed width is 5' that means your height would have to be 4'. Makes sense to me...just seems like it would be a huge topheavy load going down the road...hey if it works great:waving:

I can get 4 yards packed into my 8 x 4 dump bed of my dually, and that's with short tip-tops (sides). I might be able to do 5.5 to 6 with taller sides.

I feel a dump insert might be a little smaller dimension wise, so I would definitively check to see if your getting ripped off.

Personally, I don't see the advantage of a dump insert. If you've got one on a smaller say, 2500, or F-250 to begin with, you'll max out the GVWR on it pretty easily. You can haul way more for the price with a dump trailer.

I run the Truckcraft TC-120. It weighs only 420lbs. and it can lift 7,000lbs.

what did you all pay for your inserts?

I have a '03 F250 with an EZ dump insert on it. Build 2' high sides for it. Can put 4 cy or 2 ton (yes I know 2 ton is over GV). This was before we just started buying dump trucks. Actually we don't use it much for materials, the mowing crew uses it, so it has seen more grass than anything else, which is perfect for the application. Also, put a set of timbrens for the weight. I think I paid $2500 installed at the time, but that was 5 years ago. I would think they are more now.

I use a Dump-Pro insert in my 99 Ford 1/2 ton. Not for heavy duty stuff but yard waste, garbage runs, mulch, triple mix. No problems and I 've been using it for 6 months now. Check the Dump-Pro website, it's very informative.
