With the prices of fertilzer going up, going down and who knows where it is going is it time to start using triple 40 again? We debated about this last year, what a great product.

tell me you are not serious, or that 40-40-40 is a misprint.

if you can make a 40-40-40, you would be a rich man, or God, I guess.

Maybe a God could change the Laws of Physic. But to my knowledge man has yet to disprove the Laws of Physic.

Ric,

That's what I was saying. it is impossible to make a 40-40-40 unless you are creating something out of nothing.

I was just agreeing with you. As we both know the N P K number are expressed in Percentages. Therefore the Laws of Physics make it impossible to make more than 100%

Maybe the 40-40-40 was invented by a group of athletes... you know the ones who are always able to give 110%? Looks like they've been able to creep that up even higher?

You can buy 100 percent nitrogen gas in cylinders to fill tires--has no fertilizer value at all. Or you can get the highest fertilizer known, 82 percent anhydrous amonia. It is a poisonous, high pressure, highly irritating gas, causes instant blindness, and evaporates quick--if that doesn't bother you--fine--its cheap.

40-0-0 would be hard to spread out on a z or perm a green. 2.1 lbs per m will be hard to see the pattern and spread rate..

I agree, and also, I have found that on ferts with a lower SGN, the prills are to big to go out of such a small opening at a consistant rate(on my PG). It wouldn't be an issue with a machine with one large hole as opposed to the 3 small holes on the PG.

So Greg I see your back to do a Lawnsite IQ test. Things a little slow lately??? Not everyone in this business is an idiot. Believe it or not some of us actually know what we are doing!!!!!

Ed: Things are real slow and cold!!!! Can you get me a job at the state driving snow plow truck?. Gotta have some fun. Got to throw out the triple 40 at least once per year. We had a label made and leave it on a bag standing up and when the other competitors sneak up to the truck to see what we are using they see triple 40. Works great. a curve ball for Pat. You don't have to deal with him too much, but I believe you understand. No harm, no foul
Have a good season!!

Well Lush, if you are having trouble spreading 40-0-0 or such high analysis products through the three small holes on the Permagreen...you can always use the slide adjustments to shut off the two outer holes. Open her up a notch or two and just use the big center hole. The pattern is almost as good. And the fert flows better.

I would not recommend this for 100-0-0 or 82-0-0! LOL!

Now that the state is broke, I might have to come see you for a job. How has your prepay response been??? Mine has been slow and has me a little concerned. I did have one guy last fall tell me "I can't eat the grass, so the lawn treatments may have to go". I sent him a prepay letter the first of year and haven't heard anything yet.
