You know, with the Duramax and Allison tranny, you'd think that Chevy would be a top seller. All I see around here are Ford's even though I here nothing good about the engines-what gives?

i just traded my 3500 D/A in for a 4500 D/A. the 3500 was by far the best truck i have ever owned or ridden in. great work horse. i needed some more size and a dumping flatbed so i traded for the 4500. the 4500 is a beast. they are definitly in a class alone.

They're all down here in South Fla. Although I do think that I have the only 8.1/Allison in the area.:weightlifter:

Why? If you want to pull more, go with the 4.10s.

According to all the none diesel truck magazines ie: Edmonds, truck trends etc & their independent testing in the last 3 years the Duramax 6.6L & Allison 1000 should be king:weightlifter:; however the "real world" is much different. If you purchase or subscribe to diesel specific magazines, articles each month tend to go something like this " How do I, or How to, make a Powerstroke or Duramax run like a Cummins".

We have two Chevy 3500s. One is an 03 Crew cab long box 4x4 Duramax and the other is an 05 reg cab with a utility body 4x4 Duramax. As for the rest of the trucks all four 2500HD and the Kodiak 5500 have Duramaxs. We really can't wait for the small duramax to be made available. I would show some pics of the fleet, but I really don't have time to get them together to take the pictures.

I test drove a Chevy 3500 flatbed electric dump the other day-base model with auto and Duramax/Allison. The sticker had almost $42,000 on it. It had been red tagged down to $30,000. After I drove it, the salesman came back with a price of $23,000. Today, he left a message that they would go even lower. My Dodge 1500 has 105,000 miles on it and it has been used beyond its capacity. The tranny could go tomorrow or it could last another 100,000. My biggest problem is that it's off season and the money is real tight. Probably by the time I have the money, it'll be jacked back up $10,000 again!!!:cry: I want the truck but my wife keeps saying we can't afford it(at any price) and I know she's right. Dang if I do and dang if I don't. The Ford dealer is trying to sell me an 06' F450 electric dump with 23,000 on it for $20,000. Both are great deals if you have the money!!!:hammerhead::hammerhead:
