So I really would like to turn off the full time running lights and have it so I can control which lights are on at what time.

How do I got about doing this?

BTW, truck is a '99 Chevy 2500

Cut the wire and wire in a dash mounted toggle. Why do you want to turn them off?

or, just take the bulbs out. I have seen that done to people around here before. Won't take you 5 minutes to do both sides.

why do you want them off?

battery drain?

You enjoy driving cloaked?

I dodn't think 2 brake light bulbs would drain the battery, Besides, don't those running lights just come one when the tranny is in gear. meanin, they are not on in park. The do on mine

Yeh why disable them? I like em, and theyre not hurting anything. Theyre only on in drive and reverse.

you may want to check the laws because the reason they have the lights come on all the time is for safety, so others can see you coming.

Just a thought though

um my truck doesnt have them on.....(07 dodge)

Well if you just want to turn them off every now and then all you have to do is... while the truck is running push the dome override button in 4 times, and then you will hear a ding from the dash and there off. Every time you turn the truck off then then back on you will have to do this again.

The lights are always on, not just in certain gears.

I would like to be able to run my parking lights at times and i think full time running lights are kind of a waste during the day.

Its just an idea, if its something that is going to be complicated, ill forget it.

btw, the dome switch idea did not working

MItch, if you'll wait long enough those bulbs burn out pretty quick. I already have one out in my 04. However, what was said before WILL turn those lights off. It's in your owners manual.

I did a Mod to mine. During the day mine work as they should and anytime the parking lights are on the DRL's become parking lights and turn signals.

Press your "dome override" button on/off twice very quickly (press 4 times fast). This will override the headlights.

I had a 97 Chevy and all you had to do to shut the running lights off was.
push your parking brake down one notch.
The dealer told me that,

I have (2) 98 Tahoes that I just tap the emergency brake with my toe very lightly until the brake light shows. Sensor just triggers the light but brakes are not really applied.
Shuts down the running lights.......Been doing this for nine years.
