I'm new to the design/install part of this business and was wondering what kind of contracts you guys use...

Take it from me, go see your lawyer, and have him draw one up. I used a basic one that you could get from office max, had my printer print my logo and info, and add some warranty info. When it mattered, they didnt hold up to anything. Long story short, when it came time to take legal action againts a deadbeat, for almost $ 30k, they were junk. First thing I did was have my lawyer(first time I had met with one- a mistake) draw up a new one. It is very detailed. I had 2 customers that tried to screw with me after that, i told them to read there contract and decide if that was really what they wanted to do. Both times i received payment right a way.
