I wonder if you guys have a western site only, most all user on here are from mid to east U.S., hardly any body from west or pacific north west:confused:

Just wondering. lot of things we face here don't seem to apply out east.

I would add that you can still learn a lot from our midwestern brethren. I have adopted a few methods that are not common here in Az that are standard in the mid west and since many of my clients were originally from somewhere else they like and appreciate us using their methods. Things like using a edger or mulching trees and beds rather than using rock which is the standard here. Using bigger mowers and brands that are not readily available here has been very profitable. Other suppliers of plants that will grow here but are not available in large quantities. And lets face it business is business best practices can be transferred to all parts of the country.

I agree about using practices from other places, but here in central Oregon is completely different even from were your at, alot of the practices are generic, I am thinking more about what diseases we deal with, and what others do to get there lawns perpared for three months of freeze, etc....:)

There are plenty of places eastern slopes of the Rockies some of us in the upper great plains too. Central Oregon is a lot like where I live. AZ gardener has some good advise. I wouldn't be so quick to jump to conclusions. Of course you could always check with yours states Co-op Extension service about all sorts of hortilcultural practices too.

No problem. Stick around, read up. There is quite a bit of good advise and some that is not so good. I will do some digging and get you some links about landscaping and lawncare in drier climates.

You see some threads pertaining to the west, but it seems that it's only a small percentage of Users who are from the west.

I'd like to see more, and get more posts from western geographical areas.
