This will be my first year to do lawn care on the side. My problem is I only have about $1500 to spend on a lawn mower. Does anyone have any suggestion on which kind to buy. I found a Viking Mower that is supposed to be a part of the Stihl group but do not know if this would be a good starter for me.

Does anyone know anything about the Viking Mowers or not.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Andy

I have owned and used an Exmark Viking hydro 48" for over 3 years now. It was an excellent starter mower and sill is a very good mower. As far as being part of the Sthil group, I have no idea? My first suggestion would be to do a search on this subject. Good luck.

If it's Exmark, go with it...I personally would start out with a 36", you'll be able to go through gates on residential accounts...it's also a good foundation mower to start out with...that's what I did, and as I made more cash and gained bigger projects, I bought the bigger mowers..

Don't forget, to be in the lawn care business, at any level, you will need more than a decent mower. Allow $ for a line trimmer, stick edger, and blower. You will keep adding from there.
