What is everyone's opinion of them, and why dont you guys talk much about them? I know Exmark, Scag, Walker, etc... are all good mowers, but what about JD?

Thanks for feedback.
Todd

I currently own a 647A Quik Trak Stander. I love it. I've seen my fare share of mowers and by far the JD 7 Iron II deck had the best cut hands down. That deck is the best one on the market by far.

Have you seen the thread about the 800 series? Here's a link to the thread: http://www.lawnsite.com/showthread.php?t=227501&highlight=john+deere+800+series

Basically, most people like the 700 series, which isn't made anymore. The 800 series that replaced them were almost completely junk and most guys are staying away from them. The main problems owners report are lack of power/speed on hills, belts breaking, deck hangers breaking, and other more minor stuff. Deere has bought back a lot of the mowers.

People seem to like the 7 Iron decks.

If you find a 700 series used, or maybe even a left over new one, it will be a good mower. The new ones aren't worth having, though.

imho - i dont like any unit that uses a stamped deck beacuse our sand lots down here will have it ready for a new deck in less than two yrs time.

The most part is JD has only been making ZTR's about 6 years. Needless to say they have a long way to go to compete with companies like Exmark, Toro, Hustler, and Scag. All with well over 30 years experience in building ZTR's, Hustler being the first in 1964.

No offense to the JD owners up here. Backed with strong dealer support I'm sure there are some happy Green fleets up here.*trucewhiteflag*

John Deere can't make a ZTR because, ZTR® is owned by Dixon. :)

Do you guys feel they are priced right? ie... competitve? Higher? Lower?... price isnt my determining factor... just curious what you guys think. Thanks for the replies so far. T

I know they usually want more than what their mowers are worth. That just seems to be the arrogance of a JD dealer. Not every dealer guys so don't bash me, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

ZTR just referring to Zero Turn Mowers. Not a brand.:dizzy:

I havent priced the Quik Trak 647A in awhile...but when I did a year or so ago it was higher than I could get a Wright Stander for.
