For those of you who might own one, a 150cc is the kind that requires ttlir as
it is capable of speeds up to 60 mph...
I found one with 900 miles on it, guy wants $600, they sell new for 11-1200...
Gosh that's awful tempting :p
But once I add on all those extra costs, are they really worth it?

You plan to pull a mower and a trimmer with this? I have a hard time trusting you on anything with four wheels let alone anything with two wheels.

Own a Yamaha Vino 125. Fun to have to short trip and as a pit bike.

You might be required to be in possession of a motorcycle license. Around here any two wheeled vehicle with more than 49ccs requires a license.
If that is the case... while it might be fun. But you could have a real motorcycle and have even more fun.

I would avoid the "off brands" stick with a Yamaha, Honda etc.

That's a good point. If it is one of these off band jobs like you see in the auto stores and such, don't bother. If it needs any parts (ever), you're sad out of luck.

Scooters are like fat women.....seems everyone wants to ride one now and then but don't want to be seen with one.

Last fall I was considering getting a scooter for doing flyers and door hangers. The only gas power scooter I would buy at this point is a Honda Ruckus. You don't look like a pee wee Herman riding on it. It's the least dorky of all the scooters IMHO.
Problem is it's only 50cc and barely does 42 mph straight and level. Other than that is has great storage under the seat for flyers, sprinkler flags you name it. You just need to enclose it with a kit or buy a cargo bag designed for it.
Never did buy one.....:hammerhead:
I would stay away from those off brand China units. Stick with Honda, Yamaha, Vespa etc.

The Vino goes 55mph with me on it. My wife gets it going 60mph no problem (120lbs).

All right, I see, now I contacted the guy but he never got back in touch...
But I get that for a decent scooter I'll have to spend a couple of g's,
thanks for helping out.

Then again, for that kind of money I can just get one of these...
The parts?
Yeah, I've been ordering most everything via the Web anyhow, seeing how I keep getting the jerk around in town, and granted I do
get took via mail-order sometimes also so I figure if I have to get jerked around I can do that without ever leaving the house.
And I'm not disagreeing that I'll have to do my research, but at the same rate why pay
extra for a name and the same boring looks when I can have technical innovation?
....like fat chicks, scooters are fun to ride, but you don't want your friends to see you on one.....

....like fat chicks, scooters are fun to ride, but you don't want your friends to see you on one.....
I tell ya it makes the choice tough.
For one, I find it absolutely essential to separate oneself from the image of this puny Puch
with pedals that does about 27.3 mph down a long hill with a back draft if you lean into it.
And yes right away we're into at least 2 thousand but really 3-4 and even 5-6 thousand dollars.
But insofar as high tech peds, so that you don't have to be afraid of looking femininely,
there's no shortage of stuff that looks good, and goes fast... Maybe not as fast as a
Mustang GT, but then if it keeps up with 80mph traffic it is still a scooter.
Some of these come with mp3 players and digital dashes and alarm systems too :p
But you guessed it, I'm not looking at no under-a-thousand scooter no more.
Now the last picture, that one I don't even WANT to know the price, 800cc engine...
