Heres the story;

I bid out a tree job for a friend, when i went out to look at the job i took note of all the trees in the area that were in need of pruning or were dead and needed removal. I bid the job to break even and i got it. ( I bid it to break even to get in the neighborhood and try and get more jobs) I personally do not do tree removal so i bring in one of the contractors that i use and when i get out to the job site he is talking to one of the neighbors about there place. this would not be a problem except he signed a contract for tree work with the guy, in my subcontract agreement it states that any potential clients will be referd to me so that i can give them a estimate, or if they want a bid right then and there that i will be called and will come out and give a bid. so my question is ho would you handle this, i feel as i had that potential client robed from me.

*a note* when i sub out work i know what my subs charge, i bid the job and add 10%

should i tell the sub i need 10% of what he charges the customer? or should i let it slide and just not use him any more?:hammerhead::dizzy:

Depends on a couple of factors, did you have a true understanding with the sub? Were you and he clear on this? If so dump him quick. If there is any chance the guy was on the up and up, or a miscommunication, then error on the side of forgiveness.

I would explain how this is going to work, and he is not in 100% agreement, dump him. You need to look at intent and the way he responds to you concerning the matter. You are the contract holder, you decide whom to sub to.

I agree...good advice!
