Looking to renew our auto insurance and I really think we have been paying far too much. We have had progressive insurance for about 2 years now. Who do you use for commercial auto? Need to insure 3 trucks and trailers on this policy, full coverage, dont go over 50 miles, stored locally etc. What are you paying if you dont mind my asking and who do you use and why?

No problems with them, quick call and they pay claims rate may not be the best but have a great agent who I can call whenever I want and thats worth a bit more. I pay 2003 F350 SRW under 10k gvw somewhere just over 2k Full coverage 1 million everything.

I have liability only on a 01 f 350 and full covergae on an 02 f 250 , 04 e 250 and an 08 ranger. That costs me $2750 a yr.

Peerless Insurance covers everything of mine except workers comp which is NJM. I don't believe Erie Insurance covers Jersey. There was just a post on here about how he switched from Selective to Farm Family and saved like 25% on his premium. Hope this helps.

Erie- Commercial auto, WC, Liability, Umbrella liability, homeowners and personal vehicle. Sure is nice writing just two checks, one for business and one for h/o and personal vehicle.

SLR28 - If you dont mind me asking, what are you paying for your freightliner. Im getting quotes for a non-CDL (25995GVW) 2001 international 4900 right now, with a declared value of $60,000 and the best quote ive got so far is just over $3000 with high deductibles and very low limits for a vehicle of this size. I pay roughly $1750 each for a 97 f-350, 99 f-350, 99 f-250, and 01 f-350. It gets expensive real quick. All the pickups are thru Progressive.

Not 1--%sure but right now, its about 4500.00 but thats with numerous drivers and what not, some younger guys too. Ill look it up exactly but its somewhere around there and its GVW is 18k so for just under cdl and a year newer than mine and a 30k higher declared value thats pretty good!

Alright i wasnt sure. I have a buddy down the road from me that has a welding truck (Exact same truck i have, 01 Int, Same GVW, except the declared value of his truck is 85000 due to a $30,000 welder and a crane.) In any event, he pays $800 for full coverage for 1 yr. Everyone that i call say, "Well yes but a dump truck is more expensive. Now he does have a perfect driving, i have a couple tickets. Anyway, its just interesting how variable these prices can be.

You all know that you’re Credit and DMV records and previous insurance play a big roll in your Insurance Premiums. Go with an independent insurance company and never just except your renewal all ways ask to be Quoted a month before your renewal to see if they can lower your premiums. They really can’t offer to re-quote you but you can ask and they should do it.

Will for the best rates in NJ you need to join a .org called NJBIA. Its like 175 for a yearly membership. Then you are qualified to get auto insurance from New Jersey Manufactures Ins co.

I pay $1250 for top coverage on my pickup, skid steer trailer and enclosed trailer. Its the same price i have paid since I started in business at 18.

Thanks Matt, thats kinda what I was looking for. We have NJM for our workers comp and all that and always wondered about their auto ins. We are a member of NJLCA and PLANET and have received some small offers from various companies tied in with them but I wanted to see who had what and if there were any commernts or suggestions.

end up paying about 1400.00 a month!! Yes a month, thats why we are shopping. Theres a bit of a long story involved in why we went with progressive and had to pay this high amount but we need to switch, just not worth it. 3 trucks and 2 trailers on that policy.

You wont find better insurance then NJM. They wont raise your rates if you have a accident or get a ticket.

Yea ive heard they are quite good. Like I said I have them for our workers comp and aside from a audit mix up with some data problems, they are pretty good. Got a quote from Liberty Mutual. any opinions on them?

Me either, Got a quote in the works from Geico as well, not to sure how they will work out but quotes are free so why not shop around. Hard to negotiate with prgressive even when their price is about 6k higher than the one I got from Liberty Mutual of about 9500.00 per year for all 4 vehicles, 3 trucks and 1 trailer

There are so many variables such as policy limits, drivers, mvr's, additional coverages, different state requirements, geographical location etc. etc. It really is difficult to compare your quotes with other another business' commercial auto quotes. The best thing you can do is call a local agent and have him/her break down your coverages and what you are paying for. Then you may be able to discover a few ways to trim some costs and he will be able to shop it for you.

i understand that and of course agree with you on what yous aid but I was really interested in the type of coverage, support, etc etc. So far geico and liberty mutual are in the lead as far as coverage and lets just say "bang for the buck"
