I was thinking proabably in the neighborhood of 40 yards red dyed mulch, and another 40 of the brown mulch, maybe a bit more. I can not get a true wholesale price where i check. ANyone have any contact information on some of the suppliers that would be great. I checked BVI on a search and the only thing that came up was this thread :D

I run into the same problems. I have called our local place and Beotched b/c any joe shmoe off the streets can walk in and buy more than 5 yards and get the same price as me. WTF?? I'm not like some of you guys putting down thousands of yards, but last year I approached 200 yards and already have orders for at least 50 for this spring.

MattNY, yup same thing here. I had a supplier less than hour away going to give me kicking price on mulch and then took it back and raised price alot! Seems he sells to a retailer/landscaper who resells it and I dont think he wanted problems. Stupid as it may seem but that is the only thing that I can come up with for a reason.

The problem you have is your quantity, to get a good wholesale price you need to order loads of 80-100 yards per color. Ben Veltidi in new windsor has great mulch but is kind of expensive... and the customer service is not the best. Taylor recycling has very good prices, and pretty good customer service but the mulch is not the best, they make it from recycled construction material... Organic recycling has great customer service, the best I have seen in the industry (we deal with the Goshen yard), But I'm not sure about their mulch since we don't buy that from them. they do have the best top soil you will find anywhere... We get about 250 to 300 yard a year from them...
Edit,
and just use google to get the numbers...

I did google the names and didnt come up with any numbers on past posts. i will try yours again.
As far as quantity, it is up in the air. I know now that i have sold near 100 yards, but after that it is hit or miss with people this year and what they plan on spending. on a regular year no problem..this year who knows. All i need are the numbers so I can call them to find out what the pricing structure is for quantities delivered. Thanks all.

BVI s number is 845 561 4388 that is directly to their office. there mulch is all virgin wood chips. Taylors is cheaper but they use recycled pallets & construction debris that they grind up and dye for their mulch so you have to be a little more caareful so you dont end up with a nail in your hand.

I get all my mulch from BVI through Devitt's. If I'm working around Montgomery I'll stop and pick it up at Taylor, but I live less than a mile away from Devitt's so the convience is worth paying a bit more for me, and its pretty good stuff most of the time.
Pennings, im suprised you guys don't have mulch? I've been in and gotten a few other things from you now and then, mostly a few bales of straw every now and then tho, for small jobs when its not worth it for me to go out to washingtonville to the farm

We don't have mulch? We sell both red and black mulch, I get about 6 loads (80 yards a load) a month in the spring and maybe 3 loads a month in the summer and fall. Come in this spring and we'll talk, I will guarantee we can supply you with the best annuals around, behind the garden center my wife's family has 2.5 acres of greenhouses under glass and 1 acre under plastic where we grow all our own annuals and perennials. our wholesale customer base runs local from the mid-hudson valley to Connecticut and from New York City to central Jersey. However I would love to get some more local landscapers as customers, most of our customer are garden centers...
When you come in to the Garden Center just make sure you ask for me (Jordy) and we can sit down and see what we can do...

I will always promote the best materials, taylors mulch is not as good as BVI's, but to say you have to be careful to not get a nail in you hand???
I have used Taylor a few years ago and did guarantee that there will not be any thing like that in the mulch... (I asked them if they would come and pick up all the mulch in our yard and pay us the retail price if we would ever find any thing like that, and the said yes) so they are OK in my book...

Im not a big fan of Taylors mulch. The colors arent to dark, and what color it does have it fades quick. BVI has good stuff.. Just my 2cents

OK, I just assumed since you didnt mention yourself earlier in this topic you weren't really too big into mulch sales, but we know what everyones says about assuming:laugh: I'm Dan from Par 5 Landscaping, I'll definitely be in to see you soon before we all get real busy.

I know they deliver out at least as far east as Syracuse and Binghamton, as we've had materials delivered for jobs out there in the past. Pricing is great, and the mulch is awesome stuff. Have to order a full truck load though. You can tell Jim, I sent you.

We sell mulch locally, I don't think we would be able to be competitive when selling bulk loads of 40 yards or so and having to ship them... we deliver locally but my little truck only holds 4 yard... I would love to get a bigger truck, but until I find a stack of money somewhere, that will be a while... so I assume I'm not what this guy is looking for... but like you said, assuming, the ass (and) u (and) me...
