I had heard about this and did some research. Here is the proposed plan on the DO NOT MAIL list.
This is insane!! As a former user of telemarketing, and seeing the difficultly getting new customers with direct mail (DM is NOW my main source of new sales, but telemarketing was the best way ever to get lots of sales for the least amount of money). If this passes... How the heck am I supposed to advertise. Nobody except senior citizens use the yellow pages, door hangers take forever, etc, etc. I know there are ways, but this is an insane idea. I don't think they will pass it, because the government will lose too much money in postage revenue.
