hey guys, just wondering what u guys think about a tractor forum or something of that sort. it seems a lot of us have either a garden tractor or compact or maybe even bigger, alot of us use it for landscaping, aerating or whatever. yes its not the best for mowing but still some use it. i think a tractor forum would be good to discuss uses, implements, problems, add ons etc etc.

I love the older tractors. I have a 1963 Ford 2000 and a 1958 John Deere 420. I would like a forum on the subject.

I love my tractors, but since I quit serious farming I only have 2 left a JD 2520 and a Ford 6600. Hoss, I used to have a 430 and 630 two-cylinders, hoping to find another 430 soon. I think a tractor forum would be great.

good idea, i mess with grey market tractors and own an A/C b wide front with a woods belly.

i'm always looking for small tractors and parts and discussing models.

Hey, I would love a forum on this...have an old Allis Chambers tricycle. Damn thing's more dependable than some of my 2 year-old mowers.

I'm really surprised no one has mentioned TractorByNet.com:eek: That site has everything, and more, about compact tractors (and lawn & garden, and implements, and customizations, and etc.). Well, you get the idea. Unless I'm misreading this thread and you want to have your very own section here, you're not going to beat TBN :D ! Try it - you'll like it!

It would be just the thing , one website with all the forums I will use. But instead of just one forum for all kinds of tractors, you'd better make at least two, one for big tractors, and another for garden tractors if not a third for compacts, as these are all in a class of thier own and it would keep confusion down. But if you can't get two, then one would be ok. Heck i'd even be a moderater for a GT one. I'm really into them. I collect them and show them. Restore and fix 'em. I have always thought it would be cool to have one on LS.com... BTW, when voting i accidentally got the "no-bad idea' button, but i meant to get the 'yes definately' one.

BushHogBoy - Like I mentioned in my earlier post, your wishes have been answered. Go visit TractorByNet.com and you'll find everything that you mentioned - and more!!:p

Golfgar4 welcome to lawnsite. i understand there are other sites for tractors, but here at lawnsite we are a big family and like to talk to each other, if you do a search u can see how often a tractor is mentioned and often on its own subject, pretty much the same reason as we have a truck forum, there are other awesome truck forums, but we like to ask each other, one of the nice things abuot lawnsite.

Golfgar4:
I did check out that tractorbynet.com but it's not the same as good ol' lawnsite! I meant what stslawncare said... basically, I would miss my friends :(

:D

Lawnsite would be the biggest and best for all things outdoors if it had a couple tractor related forums. we got trucks, construction equipment, grounds maintenance, water pond and gardens, snowplowing, forums for some of the equipment, and it would be complete with tractor stuff. IMHO at least.

I hear you BushHogBoy:D I'm a cross over from TBN. I visited this site to see what you guys were doing and how it worked. I'm not in the lawncare business, so I'm looking for info. for personal use. You guys have great info., and it's much appreciated. :D I just wasn't exactly sure what kind of tractor forum you were talking about. Maybe Lawnsite.com and TractorByNet.com should work together (novel idea, huh;)) and have links to each others site, like you guys have done with Plowsite.com. I know one thing for sure - I like your smiley faces better than ours!:blob1:

For you guys who are into old iron there is Antique Tractor Internet Services, www.ATIS.net, run by Spencer Yost down in NC. It's not a really commercial site, Spencer sells a few doodads and ads to cover his expenses. There are some really nice folks on the mailing list there and it is generally a good place to get information. Somewhere in the site is instructions for subscribing to the list.

would like to bring this back to top see if we can get some more votes and thoughts, as of right now chuck feels it is against the demographics of lawnsite? whats everyones thoughts on this? alan i am a member of atis mailing digests or whatever they are called, good site but still not the same as a forum here, besides they are mainly antique. in my opinion tractors are related to lawn care etc. they are used for landscaping, aerating, dethatching, snow plowing, mowing and much more. bigger ones are a main piece of equip for many members here who do big landscaping jobs, smaller ones are a main piece of equip for aerating, dethatching, and much more. they are also the main piece of equip for new and small operations.

Way to go Chuck!

This will probably be a very welcomed addition to the truck forum, welding, equip and repair, etc.

Keep up the good work.

I don't really think it's too bad of an idea. HOWEVER I would rather see a lawnmower forum including tractors with mowing decks. I would say the lawnmower is the most important piece of equipment and much discussion goes on about mowers. Kind of like how arboristsite.com has a chainsaw forum for their most important piece of equipment. What do ya think?
