Workman's Compensation

Need a few things explained to me....my General liability insurance provider (Erie Insurance) told me that to provide workman's compensation for a part time employee making less than 5000.00 the premium would be between 900-1100 dollars. Does this sound about right, or can I shop this around to save a lot.

Also, what the heck is an LLC? I'm currently a sole proprietor.

LLC = limited liabilty corperation
Most ins carriers have a minimum for comp. I would still shop .
