I paid an advertising firm $4500 to print and distribute 180,000 door hangers. I was one of about 20 companies on the door hanger.

So far 30,000 have been delivered. This morning, I hear from the owner, saying that they are filling bankruptcy. He has no money to refund, etc.

I've never been in this situation before. I do not have a lawyer, should I contact one? Any other recommendations?

What are the chances of me getting my money back? This sucks, not only am I out the $4500, but now I am going to have to spend more on additional advertising.

Have all 180,000 been printed yet? Or just the 30k? I would say you might be screwed on the money regardless of having a lawyer or not but if all 180k have been printed, I think I'd tell the owner he had better go buy some comfortable shoes and get to walking.

good point.

30,000 have been printed and delivered (supposedly). 30,000 more have been printed, but not delivered.

I would contact a lawyer, but I don't think that you'll have much recourse if they are claiming bankruptcy. Sorry to hear that and good luck!
