Its not bad, but I wouldn't waste my time with it. People are to cheap on there and by now it's probably 500 deep on the bottom of the list. You are better off putting a flyer up at a local hardware/garden store's bulliten board

Sorry to say people on Craigslist are not looking for quality work. You might get a couple but most bid calls will not work out. You would be better off spending that time going door to door in a good neighborhood you want to work in.
Sorry.

I live in a rural part of the country. The city in which I posted it doesn't get alot of posts.

Last year I picked up a few of my best clients on craigslist. I also attracted a ton of cheapos asking dumb questions. In addition I got the worst client I've ever had. After three months of service, they came out one day and said "get out of my yard, I didn't order lawn service. And don't send a bill either, because it will go straight in the trash and not be paid." I don't advertise there anymore.

Oh ok....yeah its a little busier here. Well it might pay off for you then but like others have also said be ready for a chance of more bad then good. But if you get a few good for dealing with some headaches run with it and go make some money and do good work and those new customers will be a new line of advertising to. Good luck

It's a decent ad, but I find with CL and other cheap advertising mediums, it's better to keep it short and sweet...something like this...
LAWN MOWING- 555-5555
Seriously...this seems to work better than a lengthy ad. Partly because it creates the perception that you are cheap, and not a 'real' company. Before everyone goes off on that notion, it's worked for me in the past. I don't charge any less. Any the potential customers I find are not as cheap as people make them out to be. It just helps get you some calls.
Try a few different ads, see if one gets a better response than the others, and go with it.

can you make an active link on a craigslist add?

You can make your links clickable.
First, the best thing about Craigslist is that is is search engine friendly. Meaning that most of the time folks are searching on google and the listing if properly titled will show up in the search results. So it isn't just the cheapos looking on craigslist. It is also the Busy Businessman's secretary that does a search on google then finds your listing that has links to your site. I posted this ad TODAY and it got us a good weekly account TODAY. It is posted with many others offering cheap service and most don't have websites or even list thier number.

It is important to have links and pictures. Stand out. Sure the cheap ass customers might be there looking but it is the big spender that searched on google that you want to attract. I rarely get calls anymore from price shoppers. My ads don't say beat others prices and stuff.
Just my 2 cents on craigslist.
BTW The greatest thing about the internet is that it is inexpensive and allows for more budget on other more expensive forms of advertising that doesn't pull as well but is needed to brand ourselves.

Here's what I'd put just to make it flow a little better, I also believe you spelled maintenance wrong. I just flat out stated that you're prices are reasonable, rather than you're "striving" to keep prices reasonable. Makes it sound like you're not quite there.. maybe. I also switched up the services, It seems like they should be listed the order they're normally preformed. I took out the so in the last sentence, that's a no-no.
I'm torn on craigslist. I always have ads on there and for the 30 seconds it takes to post, its fast, cheap advertising. I probably got $1000.00 worth of odd work from it last year.
GreenerSide Lawncare is now accepting new customers. We've been in business for three years, and pride ourselves in using the very best equipment in the business, while keeping our prices very reasonable. Our services include professional cutting, trimming, edging, blowing, and trash removal. We also offer flower bed maintenance.
We service all of Acadiana. We are a native Louisiana company and are here to stay.

Here's one of my current CL ads, short "note" and screen shots of my postcards for this year, gives them something to look at. My website should be up and running tonight, I'll have links to that soon.

Sorry.
Don't be so quick to say that the only people who are on Craigslist are people who want cheap and crappy work. The majority of my calls and estimate requests from Southlake, TX come from Craigslist. If you don't know Southlake, TX... well it's the most affluent neighborhood in the US. These people don't want cheap and crappy work. They want quality, because that's what they have to have. It has been my experience that Craigslist is visited by all kinds of people, not just tire kickers and cheapasses.

I can see you want to go this route by this post. You are negating all the advice currently given to you, and you are hoping for the best. Well let me put it to you this way, you can sh!t in one hand and wish in the other, which is going to fall through first?
I did Craigslist last year, worst mistake ever. People want cheap service and want high quality. It is always the worst kind of work too, i.e. people that have overgrown beds, stuff that is nearly impossible to get at, tried projects that they can't finish because it is just too hard.
I'm guessing you are one man crew? The work you will get from these kinds of people needs at least 2 if not 3 guys, but for the price they want it bid at you will be negative after the job is done. Save yourself time, money, and gas by not posting on craigslist!

One thing that's nice about CL is that here in MI, everyone is moving to other states or areas to find work, so there's a lot of homes for sale, rent, vacant, etc. I've picked up a few decent mowing jobs from people searching CL from across the country, plus they're never there to complain!

I got one account similar to this, problem was the guy wanted it done every week for the first 2 weeks, than every other week, then every third week once it got to the hottest point in the summer. What a pain to keep track of. An extra $275 after one month late payment was received. Worth it? Heck no.
