Help from you experienced organic folks:

Compost facility (renowned in Ohio) has leaf compost or mixed yard waste compost. Analysis is very similar: 8:1 carbon/nitrogen ratio;
8.0 pH; soluble salts: leaf 0.90 yw 0.50. But, organic matter yw 23.9 and leaf 35.5.

I want to make organic care available this year to try out the market for it.
Would like to topdress existing lawns with compost. How does this compost sound to you?

My first question would be, why the difference in OM between the two?

Personally, if the yard waste is properly composted I would probably lean in that direction strictly due to variable source material. On the other hand, if building SOM is needed (which it usually is), then I would lean toward the leaf or a mixture of the two.

So I guess for the all around application a mixture of the two would be good.

I'm not sure why the organic is different. I'll have to ask them. The owners of the company that produces the compost are long-time business friends of mine and have been in the compost business for at least 15 years so I trust the product. They also operate facilities for a couple cities in Ohio. I have used their yard waste compost as a soil additive in planting beds and it does wonders for the flowers and shrubs!
I just haven't used it on lawns.
