Hey guys, I was just wondering something. When you guys are cruising down the highway at 65, what rpm's are you turning? With no trailer and mostly flat highway.

Just shy of 2000 RPMs

It depends on the transmission (5A, 6A or 6M), axle ratio, and tire size.

All Duramax trucks are 3.73's

and at 1920RPM on my duramax.

If you have stock tires and the 4.10s you'll turn ~2100 RPM at 65 MPH.

I have always been told that all Duramaxes come with 3.73 gears from the factory and there is not another option. Is this true or could you special order 4.10's?

mine sits at 1700 at 70mph. when im at 80 im runnin 1900ish. so id guess around 1650 at 65. (i never drive that slow) I have 3.73's as well, and was told its super hard to find anything else in the dmax.

You have a 6spd auto right? They run about 300rpm lower @ 65. Mine is about 2000 with 265 tires.

He said Duramax.

Too many people call their trucks by the engine.

The duramax is in a LOT of different vehicles.

I too remember the discussion of the 4.10 being available for a short time in pickups.

In the 3500HD line you'll find them also. Both as pickup and flatbeds.
