This will either be deleted or moved to the folder about same issue....

...... getting tired of scrolling to the right and then back left - over and over, so as to read anything.

Get your CSS layout back to before. Too much padding.

Ummm... I never have to scroll across unless someone adds a picture too big.

THIS thread and message is fine.... so far. But the menu/folder for "Irrigation" is too wide. And most of the discussion threads are too wide.

I never have a problem with that on either computer. I can easily achieve it though by increasing the font size. ctrl + a couple times and I can get it there.

Correction, I do have to scroll..... this is what I see.

probably just zoomed it.. . or maybe your font size.

Try to Ctrl - while you are on here to zoom out. Or Ctrl + to zoom in

I'm guessing you res is only 1024x768. If can see still . Bring it up to 1280x1024.. Then Enlarge your text ( or zoom your page)

I shouldn't HAVE to play with ZOOM or font size......

This is what I see for a SEARCH result. No scrolling needed in this:

No, you are right. The horizontal size of this site has increased. left column is too large and the main column as well. If I find some time I will play around with my CSS overrides to see if I can fix it.

Just had a duscussion about this with my daughter on web page sizes. She told me to stay under a 1000 pixels width. People HATE going left and right. Nobody minds scrolling down.

this is just too fuNNY! Dude! when you get on the forum page of your choice ( 4 example Irrigation forum )
you need to expand your window by placing your cursor on the right side of the browser window until you see an arrow. Then hold down your mouse button and move the arrow to your right. Don't compare the forum page view to the main page view, that's confusing you.

ummmmmmm, dude-ette? Not confused here. Poor website design if scrolling right and left is required.

And the Lawnsite code-monkey's little trick of "pre-scrolling" to the right is a Kluge/hack/RubeGoldberg response. They "broke" the layout.

Honestly, they're really not paying attention to us anymore. There are quite a few posts and pictures that would normally get deleted, that they have left alone. I doubt they'll get around to fixing this for you.

It's an annoyance for me, since I don't even have as wide a screen as 1024 pixels. It's been a while since 800x600 was the most common monitor resolution, but a lot of web content is still based on that standard, and a truly savvy page designer would make their content work on those older monitors, as well as more modern resolutions.

The only time it happens to me on my MacBook is when some bozo posts a large pic.

I think this page must have been composed on a 1280-wide screen, at the minimum.

Mike, the orange theme is the one you need to look at.
Specifically hardcoded width declarations with no units and nowrap declarations.

You have what, a 20 inch or 24 inch wide flat panel monitor?

Webpage testing has to be unit tested (and regression tested), using the same hardware that most of your target users have. Most people use a normal size laptop or normal (under 19" screen) monitor. And 800x600 is still a common screen "theme". A size of 1024x768(?) is usually the "maximum" screen setting.

Kiril

IMHO, for dynamic width sites such as this one, the view port should size to around 800 x 600 without horizontal scrolling.

I think it's probably safe to blow off the 640x480 monitors by now. :)

Well ...... don't forget small devices, which technically should be handled independent of your "desktop" site.

Sure is handy to wreck a redundant thread, not that any of us would do that, or be that.
