I need to replace the 17hp kawasaki (model# FH500V-BS09) engine on my Scag hydro walkbehind. An on line dealer is offering a 19hp Kawasaki (model# FH580V-BS17) for 850.00 with free shipping which seems like a good deal. The description seems to be compatible with the 17hp but there seems to be quite a few different configurations and I don't want to be stuck with something that won't work. The engine dealer says that it should. If anybody has tried this or knows for sure that it will work please chime in. Thanks! (BTW they want over 1200 for the 17hp???)

There are a few things you need to check,
1, length and diameter of the shaft, as well as the key groove
2. the bolt pattern. If those two are the same, I believe you should be fine. I have done several engine swaps. I swapped a Kohler for a Kawasaki, my dealer told me it couldn't be done, but he was full of it, bolt pattern was identical as was the output shaft, it just bolted right on.
Good luck.

:walking:make sure shaft same, bolt pattern is the same but only thing is that what happens if some thing is wrong or happens, kaw, engine has 2 year warranty where or who takes care of that, buy from a dealer who will take care of you and engine issues i will tell you that is cheap for that engine,
