View Full Version : Sawgrass removal

I have a client that wants about 20 saw grasses removed. Half of them are between 4-5 feet in diameter. I know that even small ones can be hard to remove because of big, heavy root balls. My 2 thoughts were either rent a small backhoe to help rip them out or a stump grinder. Any insight on this would be very helpful.

I would consider a small backhoe. Dig them all out,re-grade the area and seed with new grass. If that's the case. Hard to tell without looking at the property and work needing to be done. Stump grinder might not work as well and take longer to get the job finished. Plus the grinder can't smooth out the area when your finished.

Another thing, if you don't get all the roots out, will the saw grass re-grow from roots left behind? Will the area need to be treated to prevent the saw grass from coming back if there is stray roots left in the soil?
