Any one else have problems getting parts from J-Thomas? I placed a big order (for me) in December for about $200 worth of maintenance items, filters, plugs, etc. Received most of it as usual about 3-5 days later and they charged me ~140. The rest was backordered.

3 phone calls later, they tell me some of the rest will show up today, 2/27. Unfortunately, all the Husqvarna parts are still backordered and I decided to cancel the order. I don't mind waiting but this is ridiculous- either sell the parts or don't.

Anyone have any clue what is going on or similar problems? Other than this, my experiences with them have been 100% positive and I will still use J-Thomas, but will certainly ask whether it's in stock or not.

Yeah, been there, done that, best I could figure is J-Thomas is a little bit like that :p

Like yourself I still order from them because the savings is well worth it,
but I did have to make some adjustments in ways of doing things,
it's not so bad once I figured out (roughly) how to deal with it.

Yes I also find it frustrating that they list the stuff and I can order it online or via phone...
Way I do things now is I make sure to order so much that the impact is minimal.
Strange, but...

Now if it's a part I need yesterday then I'll consider other options first.

You have to sorta know the stuff they stock and the stuff they tend to not stock (or not stock that much of). It's also the slow/off season in December for lawn stuff - they switch their inventory concentration to snow removal stuff at that point. I've had a few back-ordered issues with them - where it took a long time to get the stuff. But, by and large, they've got 95% of the stuff I order in stock and I get it the next day (I'm in the Detroit area and so are they).
I think you may have just run into a anomalous situation.

I just ordered some bearings for my mower a few weeks ago and they told me that some of them were on back order. They stated that I should get them in 7-10 days but that has not been so. Two weeks later and several phone calls, they told me that the rest of my order will not ship until mid March. To me, that is bull S***. If you told me 7-10 days, then it should be 7-10-days, not 2-3 weeks.

One way in which I have learned to deal with J-Thomas is to order parts
I'll be needing a ways down the road, so J.T. is today responsible for keeping
most of my back stock supplied.

Best way I found to deal with it.

I will say this - I know that Jeff sold the company last year. I have noticed a slight change in customer care/service since then. I hope that trend hasn't worsened over the winter. I didn't really need to order much this past winter, so I haven't used them since last Fall. I think the same company that owns Oregon Parts bought them - Stens (?).
