Bill -

I'm about to give a bunch of constructive criticism. I say this up front because I don't want you think that because I have many points that I address, that I don't like your site. I do. I particularly like the stone border around the pages. The site has a clean layout. But I think there are some things that can be done to improve the visitor's experience:

The main page - it looks like you wanted the background pic to be a full background, but it isn't quite. And the pic in the foreground isn't centered. If you meant for it to not be centered, you need to move it even more (right now it looks like you tried to make it centered but didn't quite make it).

Once into the other pages, I found the links to be a bit confusing - like the landscaping button, for example. I click the button, and a new page loads, but there's nothing in the main area of the screen. I almost didn't notice that hitting that button opened up options below the landscape button. So it looks like you were trying to do something like a drop-down menu. I'd advise to either make it a real drop-down, or make a new page, so when you hit the landscaping button, those options appear on the main body of the page, not in the left border.

Same thing with references.

And the site loads really fast, which is nice. It's fast enough that you could afford to put a few pics on the pages along with the text.

That's it for now. It looks like you're off to a great start. And I realize that getting any constructive criticism right after spending days putting the thing together can be tough on the ego. It is on mine, anyway. Know that I'm only wanting to help.

Good luck!

I would recommend dumping the splash page.

I love the rest of the content. Dittoing Stonehenges comments. It looks as if there is content that is yet to be uploaded.

I would reconsider using www.the-web-host.com. I am getting packet loss on thier end of the network and the site is slow to load for me compared to others. If you look at the trace routes below the *'s represent the information that is lost as packet loss.

Bill...

Site looks great!

I like how the stone goes down the left side of the page. Graphics are awesome, it's a great theme.

HGM -

The information you provided is very interesting. I don't understand it, but it's interesting. What exactly is the data showing?

I think I get what 'packet loss' means - packets of data for the site, but I don't know how you'd be able to decipher that from the data there.

How'd you do that?

heygrassman

17 180 ms * 131 ms billslandscaping.com [64.177.209.113]

Each "hop" the # 17 is a point on the internet that the data passes through on the internet. This specific site is 17 hops from me to the site. The numbers 180ms, *, 131ms(milliseconds) is the time that it takes for information to pass from hop 16 to hop 17 (in this example) in 3 different attempts. The * in this example means that the information that is sent in the 2nd attempt is not able to get to the target (packet loss.)

To run this command in windows goto start - run - type "command" (without quotes.) You should come up to something resembling a C:. Then Type tracert www.(Site).com and presto...

Do You think This Site is worth $1200.00 that it cost to build? That is how much I paid. I think it is too much what do you think?

I personally think that is too much, but it does look good.

Too late to matter now, I had mine done for much less than that.

I too believe that is a little pricey.

It does look good.

I agree with Stonehenge on the Landscape button. Plus, I don't care much for the main page and the fact you have enter from there. Feels like I'm entering a page that contains explicit material. Just my thought.

I like the rock border, nice touch. I also like your logo.
Your off to a good start. I'm sure once you get everything worked out it will a great site.

By the way, Stonehenge, I like your site. Very thorough with the services you provide.

I'm also starting to take the step in creating a site for myself. Luckily my Brother-in-law had his own web page developement co. So I don't have to pay.

 $1200! What levels of insaneness have you been reduced to? Did you pay someone to make it? Does the site provider cost that much? What exactly cost $1200??

(I kinda like splash pages, just an opinion though)

I don't see any problem with it (for $1200 I should damn well hope not) all the links and everything are cool. Its a really nice site, has a good "vibe" to it and everything. Its real bright, happy.

On your contact page (if you can acces the html) if you wanna make your e-mail a link the code is (a href="mailto:name@server.com")E-mail(br)name@server.com(/a)
Just replace these ( ) with these < >
(i don't know, a lot of people do that though (e-mail links that is).)

It should look something like this but in your font and colors.
<center><a href="mailto:name@server.com">E-Mail<br>name@server.com</a>

see how when you click on it it opens your e-mail & automatically has the address in it(for most people anyway it does)
