Well was up at 4:00 this morning(went by myself) and off down the road to KC to Ritchie Bros auction. What an experience.Been years and years since i was to a big auction.Last one i was to was over thirty plus years ago.Boy has things changed.:dizzy:

The one i went to was a Forke Bros auction at D.M. Iowa.

Anyway it was cold and snow on the ground when i got there about a 4 hour drive. There was a huge crowd.Busy, busy place.I got a good parking spot close to the front door. They had shuttles running back and fore.

Got checked in and number, sure i came to buy something:).Can't go and come home empty handed:cool2: .Right!!!!!! Heres a few pictures.

Well all i have to say is everyone needs to go to at least one of these in there lives. It is a life time experience. There was two rings going at once,so you had to check the schedule and go back and fore to keep up if you had something you was looking to buy in each ring.Luckly mine wasn't at the same time.

I was back home by 6:30 this evening,so didn't waste much time.Found a short cut home:dancing::usflag:
More pictures to come later !

Ritchie tried putting up a spot the next town over from me. Damn neighbors of the surrounding area put the kabosh on it. Damn equipment haters. They said it was going to be a noise issue. It was on 180 acres. It was an old sand and gravel bank. Not gonna be any louder that the crushers:hammerhead:

Junior you loose your $10 dollars, will maybe not quite? Guess you could kind of call it a one of the two things you said.

Dirtdigger actually i didn't at least(heaters blazing away) right off the start. It was 19 degrees when i got there after i got signed in and number i went out into the yard and started checking everything out that i was interested in.Along with all the other things that i wasn't.Two hours later i went back inside.

They was running all the small pickup through,it took them that long just for them(bunch of them),so wan't wantin one of them so spent that time looking at other things.

And actually i was froze,so i hopped into Kenworth:dancing: that was setting there running with the heater running full blast and tried to get some blood circulating back into my frozen feet:cry:.

Anyway checked out the skids, one thing about going to a sale you can get in the machines and move them around a little to at least say you run one:laugh:Checked Tak,Case, there was Cat Bobs:laugh: there also!

Got to run around today to make up for the stuff i didn't get done yesterday,(got one of the dozer torn down and working on getting parts for it lined out)but it was worth it.I had a great time, will be going back:):usflag:

Scag if you get a chance just go to get the lay out how things are done,as far as signing in and other stuff. It is hectic around there so if you actually wanting to bid on something.

You have to get things done(quickly) before they get to what you want to bid on.They don't mess around. They ran things like you people runs there skids. They don't let the grass grown under them!

Need to check on line to see what is there, but when you get there there is a bunch more stuff there then was even on the sale site.

United and Hertz rental had a sh$t wade of stuff there that wasn't even on the sale site to start with, last minute listing i would guess. So they must be down sizing fast!!!!!!!! Bargains on late model nice tractor backhoes 20K with the works cab a/c you name it.

Plus sissorlifts and boom lifts was everywhere. They had like over 4 pages just of them for sale.Tell you something!

Just go your have a great time, get someone to go with you.The Was site looks to not be far from you?

The site was actually east of KC at Odessa,MO. right along I 70.Well need to get off here.I need to go see my Cat mechanic about some stuff.

Just remember buying equipment is lots more fun then buying parts,so check them out close and decide which your into.Today i'm into buying parts anot nearly as fun as yesterday.(big part+ repair bill again):hammerhead::usflag:

Ah hell, I don't have any money to buy, I'm just curious to see how cheap things go for. Lots of Cat 345B's for sale at this upcoming auction here, I think there was 4 last I checked. I'm curious to know what some of the bigger iron brings. I also want to go just to see how things roll at these auctions, I can only imagine how crazy it gets.

If anything, minimax will be doing all the buying. We'll get him all signed up and I'll hold the bidding number.

The WA site is about an hour south of my apartment on the west side of the state, a good 2.5 hours from where I'm at right now during my work week.

I would really like to drag my dad over there and see if we can't find him a stupid good deal on a low hour skid. I have yet to check the online listing for skid steers yet, I will do that here pretty quick.

I didn't know that.

It used to be the log landing yard for Catermole, now that whole place is home to Pre-Con and AMIX's scrap yard for pre-sorting for Surrey.
It's an ideal location, so "big city" chicken sh*ts like myself don't have to fight through traffic to get a deal.

Ya now I remember they did have a sale out there I didn't realize they were going to make that a regular site.

The skids there were like most skid fairly new ,but showing quite a bit of wear. The Tak 150 was an 07 and there was a decent 440 Case CTL 06 that i should have came home with it brought 15K.Cab air,radio,1300 plus hours.

Tracks rough like most of them there are!!!!!!!The Tak brought 26K,Bobcats was running around 13k for a T250,two Cat 277 both went for 13k.

When one piece sells they jump on the second bidder and ask him if he wants the other one for the same price if not then they ask someone else. They hardly restarted the bid ,cause someone jumped on the othere machines.

So if there is more then one piece there you need to be actually bidding even if you don't get the one you have a chance for the other one.If your really interested.

I was wanting to bid on a 650J 07 Deere dozer with cab, ripper 879 hr? which sold later.Which was a pretty good deal, but didn't bite the bullet. It looked like new.62K

The 440 would have used up part of the money i had planned on trying to have to bid on the dozer which was what i really wanted to do ,but thinking CTL skid will have to work for now.

Still throwing the idea over if going that far add too it and getting another used D6R,something that really would come closer to paying it way.Just and age thing for me again.I would have this problem if it wasn't for that issue.Too young for Junior and too old for me.

Anyway that was how that turned out.So on to what i actually brought home.:usflag:

All i can say is yeah it is a Bobcat:) They had two there and i got the one with the more parts to get it going. There is a valve for the laser ,but looks to be something that i'm not sure i can use, plus got the pole for the laser reciever.

They had 7ft. Bobcat flail mower head not new ,but very good shape went for $2500( not US mower ,but would make you money at that price still)wouldn't mine have gotten. All it takes is money.Right:laugh:

They had over 80 plus attachment on the site ,but when i got there there was a whole lot more ,everywhere. Most was new,not that many used. The two best selling attachments was a skid mounted Bobcat concrete drop hammer(new, sure it was high dollar item from Bobcat) went for 4k and a small tree shear which everyone there was after, not that heavyduty for serious shearing it brought 4k.

Tons of the forked grapple was about all running 1750 on them.Bunch of pallet forks.

They had tons and tons of landscape rocks on pallets there.Didn't get to stick around to see how that went ,because i was jumping back over to the other ring for the othe equipment. They had over 1173 item that sold(one day auction)

If your interested in going to buy like i said you need to really get orginized with a plan.Or you can find yourself missing out.Especially if your by yourself(with two rings going). They have a sheet that you need to study that has what will sell when with a time which is just something to go by not exact.

Thats how i timed what i wanted to see sell,or try to buy.I do think that if you have a business and need stuff that if you would really get into it that there would be some money to be made here buying and reselling.

Plus with the business being able to use it for the bus until it resell.Just remember one thing don't fall in love:rolleyes: with it, that is where it would hurt you down the road.Unless you have extra, extra cash stored back.Needs to be cash flowing,or making money working in the bus until it sells.

Yes it is a gamble ,but look at the attachment that i bought. From Bobcat probably 7 to 9k??? or like J/P Groundhog attachment 12 to 14k for what he gave around 2500?

So with that kind of discount how can you go wrong if the bus is growning and you got some cash to work with.Sorry about the long post .But trying to point out some benifits two newbbie!Don't try buying all your attachment from a dealer.Go auction shopping that is the tip for the day.You will save and come home with more attachments for the price of one at the dealers.:cool2::usflag:

Sweet.Thumbs Up I love those box blades. You're right, if you buy it right and it doesn't turn out to work or use it a lot it doesn't hurt you.

Denny, thought I saw a JD650lgp open rops at Fabco(it was in a flyer) for less than 30,000, will try to find it and wasn't sure on hours.

That would have been a helluva deal on that 650J. That machine was double that brand new. The 440CT deal was good too.

At these RB auctions, what all are you allowed to do with the machines? Can you start them up and move them around a little, or even run them somewhere, or is that off limits? I'd like to check one out sometime. I think Columbus, OH is the closest RB that I know of.

You really have to be careful on the machines you bid on at these big auctions. "Let the buyer beware", is something you really need to keep in mind. It is not always possible to fully evaluate one of these auction machines. They can look real nice, but have numerous serious problems. Much of the equipment at these auctions gets a "Sherwin Williams overhau".
I know, as I was heavily involved in sending worn out, used up, troublesome machines to various auctions for nearly 10 years. Auctoins were a good way for our mining company to dispose of these type of machines. We got a lot of laughs watching one of our nice looking machines sell for thousands more than they were worth. This is just a way of life at these auctions. Many have an onsite paint and detail shop doing nothing but cleaning up the beat up machines that are hauled in for the sale.
So, if you go, just really be careful. I think it makes more sense to buy solid used machines from a good dealer you trust.

Mowingman has a point. I also looked at the prices various machines sold for from RB that I am interested in and once in a blue moon you'll get some machine for a crazy deal; but I see machines going used from private parties for the same price as most of these auctioned machines. For instance, the Kubota 121-3's are going for $25K and up for OROPS and $30k plus for cabbed (maybe once in a while one will go for super low, but I didn't see any in my search). There's currently two that I can think of in my state that are $25K and $24K for OROPS and most cabbed units I've seen right now in my state are hovering at $30-32K. I personally would rather go buy private in that case. Where I see the deals happening more frequently are with the larger hoes like the 120's. Some JD 120C's are going for $50K and up. That's freaking low. But again, who knows how well they were maintained or what not. I don't know, I think KSSS, minimax, and others that buy more frequently at auctions would have better insight than me. It's all about being persistent and pouncing on the right deal.
