A pesticide by definition could be a weed control, insect control or fungus control.
What exactly are you going after?

You know this--corn gluten meal for crabgrass. It takes a lot.

For broadleaf weeds--well that is a toughie-- Tenacity--was originally derived from the lemon bottle-brush plant.

Octane has a very favorable enviromental profile--about a hundred times less toxic than Weed-B-Gone. Quicksilver is similar except that it has an Federal EPA "Reduced Risk" certificate. That means it is almost impossible to kill a lab rat with it. Also both of these products are used at about 2 ounces per acre. You could probably eat an acre of treated grass without developing any adverse reaction. They do not persist in the environment. Low risk to ground water. Passed tests for carcinogenicity, birth defects, develpmental problems, nerve damage, allergic potential.
