View Full Version : Cut height
I am curious about when you guys say a specific cut height are you referring to the height that it says on your mower or a measure of the actual grass you're cutting?

When you put the mower on the grass it usually drops slightly due to the amount of thatch in the lawn. Some of our very well maintained lawns can drop up to a 1/2 inch.
If you have ever mowed a freshly sodded lawn the mowing height can drop quite a bit. Usually we set the mower on 4" and it cuts the blades about 3" above the thatch line.
If you cut a mature lawn that has not been taken care of or has compact clay soil. The mowing heights will not change at all.
When I talk about cutting heights I’m referring to the blade height but that’s just me.
