I need some help. I can buy Kohlers fairly cheap here in town. But I'm a little worried about wiring it up. Do Kohlers have anything special about the wiring that I would need to know? I have a vanguard now and I think I'm going to replace it with a Kohler. Some of the kohlers have a rectifier block listed and some don't.

If your replacement requires an electric clutch and/or electric start, it will be necessary to have a Kohler with the rectifier/regulator to convert/regulate voltage. I don't see any reason why you cannot make the change although I would have to have some hands on to give you directions. I changed out a Kohler 18 Magnum to a Honda 20 on a Grasshopper a couple of years ago so I'm quite sure it can be done. Possibly someone who has made a similar change will swing by to give you some advice.
