How long to dethatch?

I have an 8000 sq ft. yard....takes me an hour or so to aerate....never dethatched this customers lawn before....how long should it take me...the thatch isnt too bad but he wants it anyways.

It's been almost 10 yrs since I did a dethatch job, but I would guess you would atleast double your labor since you have to rake and bag the thatch. You cant just leave it like aerating plugs. I dont see why this customer wants it done though since aerating performs a similar (probably superior) function.

How are you planning on dethatching it ??? with a walk behind mounted unit or a power rake or power comb type one ??? It would probalby take the same amount of time, maybe less to dethatch with a walk behind unit like the JRCO , but with a reg power rake, probly 3 hours or more, by the time your done blowing, raking and carting all the ca ca that comes up from the machine...
