I have a customer that just built a new home last spring. The lawn was put in by the builder and needs alot of work. It needs to be overseeded but do I need to dethach the lawn and remove all the old straw first? I did one up the street a few years ago that way and it turned out great, but it took half a day to clean up all the old straw.
Thanks Andrew

Redistribute and reuse what straw is left for the new seed, as long as it is there.
I seed with compost and have never been happy with straw. But on some slopes it is almost necessary.

powerseed an be done , I do several a year this way an it works well, after I powerseed I will broadcast seed over top the straw just as a perventive measure, I seed at 8 pounds per thousand, 4 pounds each direction, then I overseed it at 4 pounds in just one direction,, have fun George
