Okay To my experts out there. I have a 1996 Walker mower. Bought a new battery. Try to start it just clicks. If this was a car I would say starter. Since I am not to familiar with repairing Walkers yet, could someone enlighten
me.
Thanks Fellas

Without knowing what engine is on this unit, I would say the starter solenoid has failed. It could be mounted on the starter (solenoid shift) or frame mounted (non solenoid shift).

Some Walkers had a problem with the key switch assy., back in 1998, and maybe further back than that. They had a warranty update they put on mine. That solved my starting problems.

I have had problems with both the starters and the relays. I made myself a wire with a pushbutton switch to use as a check to see if the relays were the problem. You could do this with just a wire with a female spade. Put the female spade connector in the place on the starter where the wire with the spade connection is now connected. Touch the other end to the positive terminal of battery and see if motor turns over. If it does then the problem is in the electrical. The most likely problem would then be the switch at the blade engage lever or the relay just above the blower. You would need to call walker and get a wiring diagram for that old model or look in your book if you have one. If the starter won't turn over then it is the starter. Get on ebay and you can usually find one for less than $100 new. Not worth trying to fix a starter. I have tried replacing the solenoid and have never been successful at fixing the starters. There seem to be internal problems with bushings that add to the problem with the solenoid.
