I have a Kohler CH20 on a Walker mower. Engine has about 2200 hours. I had to replace one of the coils last week. It runs great now when I start it up and mow normal thickness of grass, but if I run it in heavy grass like scalping zoysia at 1" it starts surging a lot and the power drops off. The power varies as it surges as you would imagine This may not be pertinent, but it seemed to do it more when I was on unlevel ground. Engine had new compression and oil rings put in at 1600 hours and the cylinder looked brand new, but I have not tested compression yet. One other fact. There is a very small spring over the carb linkage for the throttle that is broken. I thought I had been told before that this had something to do with dampening surging, but it has been broken for a while and I didn't experience this surging problem, however I wansn't scalping. Any suggestions are appreciated.
