Biggest areating job bid yet. Normally I charge 30$ for the first 2k then 4$
per k for additional. Only golf courses and parks/schools use the pull behinds here. I could rent another ryan ( I own a LA4} and use two but the price might end up to high. Five acres is 180,000 sq ft, right? I could drop my price to a flat 2.50 and that would still be pushing 500.

Any help would be nice.

1 acre is 43,560 sq ft

X 5

= 217,800 sq ft

$1090 that's $5 per 1000 sq ft.

No lower. It's going to take you 9-10 man hours to do this.

My first thought was 900$ but I dought if anyone here will go for it. Do you think 2 guys with two lawnair 4's can do it in 5 hours?

I think the 26" is 26k per an hour and the 19" is 19k per an hour, but that is 100% efficantcy.

So I would guess 6 hours for both of you.

Blue Bird says their 26" will do 40k per an hour. Humm:rolleyes:

You never know.. I used to think this way.. until I decided to have a positive attitude, image and outlook. Be confident! Sell yourself and the job for what it is worth. Some will say yes and some will say no..

Don't do it for less than $900..

That is a lot of aerating. I wouldn't go less than $900 and probably be closer to $1000+/-.

I would never touch it for that if I had to walk.

I have a tractor with a 3pt aerator and that would be the only way. The beating on the machine as well as the body would not be acceptable.

Rent a pull behind and attatch it to whatever will pull it, I am not gonna give you prices since I don't know your market but I do know that if you take this job and use walk behind aerators, you will never do it again.

$1100 - $1200 would be my asking price.

I would not touch it with walk behinds, too much work and time if you don't think they are going to come off the hip. I would be $1200 min, if they accepted it I would ask for a 50% deposit, run to Lesco or a Classen dealer and get the tow behind model. Send the help home, sit back on the mower/tractor and give them the best plugging job they could ask for. :)

Our Lesco dealer here sells those for around $1300-1400 in Nashville, Tenn. That would only leave a couple hundred to make up.

I'm with ya on thet Ray.

Also could get a Feldman 48" tow for $600, that's what I would be using.

Thanks guys. I have never seen any pull behinds for rent here. If so do you charge less if the time can be reduced?
Most people with big property won't usually spend the $$$$$$$$. This guy is probably not going to spend big bucks but I am sure I can sell him a scaled down areation. He rents this place and has made a mini golf course with greens. I wiill try to sell the greens areation and selecy areas around his house.

Too bad your not close by as I would rent my 48" Claussen tow behind for fairly cheap. As long as you are not aerating asphalt you can't wear this thing down. My DC pulls it easily and with a WB aerator I can knock out most residential lawns in under 40 minutes. I love it.

What is a scaled down aeration?

My price goes down as the sq/ft goes up.

$8 per a k down to $5 per a k at 3 acres.

I have a ryan 6 ft 3 PH hitch model that is just the ticket for those sized jobs,I could do that job in about 2 hrs, depending on how rough it was.It weighs 1000 lbs and i pull it with a cushman truckster,or my 32hp Ford tractor,no way a little tractor or ZTR will tow this thing, but if you could rent one near you,it might pay to do it.I would get 800-1000 for that sized job if it was smooth, and rock free, more if it was rough or lots of abstructions.I do my 7 acre lawn twice a seasonit takes me 1 1/2 hrs to do it,but its long straight runs, where you can crank.

By scaled down I mean areate what is most important. I have never seen a nice lawn in these parts that size. If someone has acerage here it is in pasture, tree fruit, vegies or is sagebrush. By the way I have not seen this one yet. A guy that is working for me knows the guy and I will take a look friday. If this is a nice lawn and not pasture I will be surprised. We just don't get calls for plugging on that size place here in this area.
