He is probably too busy putting the tracks back on after the derailments that those new cat steel trackers are having. One guy here had his derail coming of the delivery truck. Then the tracks wore throught the torsion axle frame in 120hrs! Seems Cat really researched that model!

"grease gun" might be the word for them then, not enough tension and no grease in the torsion axle pivots.

Ausman: That must have been your sisters uncles cousin, right.
I worked a 299C the other day for a customer that traded in a 277B on it. He wanted his 277 back, can you believe that. The ASV undercarriage that is touted as pure junk was this cutomers favorite machine in the world. He did not like the 299C because of the ride, and since he didn't have any problems with his 277B he would rather have it back.
So the point is, you guys think everything is wrong with everything (except for your choice of machine) of course when in fact the there are some good products.
I have said a million times, there are things that other manufacturers do that I think are completly ******ed, shade tree mechanic type stuff,(think transverse mounted engine) but guess what it works, and if the guy can make money with it, then who cares...
Just my .02 though.

I understand completely.
Did you happen to see the news clipping from Obama's visit to the CAT plant?
I have to say your CEO is a man of honor. The President said some things in his speech which were incorrect reference CAT not needing to lay any more people with the passage of the stimulous. The CAT CEO had to start and stop himself several times to chose just the right words, but basicly said "thats BS". CAT will be laying off a couple thousand more people very soon, regardless of the stimulous package. They said that CAT had laid off about 25K people world wide. I thought it took balls for the CAT CEO to correct the President instead of what would have been much easier to just go with what he said. I feel for the people losing their jobs. At least he did not decieve anyone and told it like it was. My hat is off to him.

I didn't see it but thanks for the cliff notes. The company I work for has recently offered a early buy out program followed by a reduction of work force, wink. Things have came to a screeching hault around here due to the price of natural gas crashing. All the drill rigs are stacked and exploration has cut way back.
Still we are working full time but I imagine it will get worse.
I come to this site to try to help out the CAT owners, past furture, and present. I have tried to not ever bash the other brands, just provide some facts, good or bad.
You always keep it real and who can't appreciate that.
