No!!!!!!!!   Why'd you sell the Dmax?

TandM
03-11-2009, 11:07 PM
I had too Times are too tough right now so I sold it I got 18k for it! its worth about 15k. and I really didnt need it to tow a landscape trailer. I am goin to miss the diesel. but the tundra was free!! courtesy my grandpa! it was his truck when he passed. I had some dual exhaust put on it and it sounds mean! whenever I need to tow something heavy I can break out the reak truck (07 dodge ram 3500 dually! cummins of course!)

Not tryin to be an ass, but don't you think keeping the truck and not getting another one would not be considered selling off.
Was it because of fuel mileage?

TandM
03-11-2009, 11:17 PM
well I guess selling off is not really the word for it how about down grading? that work for you? fuel mileage was one thing. and the insurance was crazy for some reason it is much cheaper now. and really I didnt need that big of a truck

I see, I was just pullin your leg. Times are getting tough. I'm going to have to find a car with a v8 and use that instead of my truck. I see your 16, THAT is why insurance is high. LOL

Aww nothing beats a Cummins, even though you like duramax. I just like the tone and rumble. My dream truck is the 24 valve Cummins in the older Dodge trucks.

You got that right, the older cummins have such a great tone, especially the older they get the better they sound.. Still cant beat the 5.9 imo..

yea I know haha no hard feelings! and yea i love the cummins it will flat out move! and yea it sounds a lot better then powerjokes duramaxs. I do like my little tundra though I was suprised at how quick it is. its way faster then all the other truck from ford dodge and chevrolet with similar sized engines and the bigger ones as well. it will go very fast!! especially right off the line. from about 0-50 Im gone. then it picks back up at 70 ish

A chip, injectors, exhaust, and you can leave anybody at the red light in a thick black cloud of smoke. :weightlifter:. I can't wait to get one. I wish when I did my engine conversion in my yota to put a 4 cyl Cummins, awwwww it would have been bad azzzz. Oh well.

TandM
03-11-2009, 11:33 PM
now that would have been super sweet! what about a 5.9 in a tundra? I think I just came up with a 30mpg pickup truck that will smoke anything......

Ya, I have the 4.8 in the silverado, and it feels sluggish when pulling a 1700 pound trailler and 2000 pounds of equipment. But no trailer, it is ok, and good on gas. Usually 17-18 no load.

They could get so much fuel mileage in those new truck if they would stop adding all the BS from electronics to emission BS. My dad had a 2003 Dodge dually with the Cummins. Easily 23-24 on the highway. 18-19 city. Heck, the new ones you can barely get 19 on the highway!

TandM
03-11-2009, 11:41 PM
yea I know our 07 gets about 22 best it will show about 24 though. but its off a bit. my tundra gets 22! and 16-18 city. eat that chevy!! and its not sluggish at all

Well, mine has some horses that have not been unleashed yet.... due to fuel mileage. So....

I was wondering the fuel mileage on your did not sound right, then I remember, yours is not the massive tundra, yours is somewhat like the tacomas in size wise.

If yours was the big new tundras, now that's another story.

Sorry to hear you had to sell it, duramax's are awesome trucks!! That toyota will be a great work truck for you though, they are really reliable. My family has owned 10 of them, lol. Good luck this year

TandM
03-12-2009, 09:31 PM
haha yes the cab is quite small its a 2 person truck with room for stuff in the back seat and that is it. haha and yes the truck is the smaller one not the new big ones good lord I would have called huge bs on that. those things get like 14 mpg and yes yotas go on forever they never quit so Im happy with it. I think I am gonna lift the tundra a bit

That would be, I've got a magazine running around here with a 2000 Ranger in it that somebody dropped a 4cyl Cummins out of Komatsu mini excavator.. Talkin about sweet..

TandM
03-12-2009, 09:37 PM
it was out of a kabota tractor if Im not mistaken I have the same magazine you are talkin about the yellow ranger right? with a small lift?

Yeah, I think, that or red, I am not sure, I got some many diesel magazines floating around its hard to remember. But seems to me it was yellow with a 4cyl out of a Komatsu like PC27..

All I can say that it is badazzzz. I wish I would have known. I knew that they made 4 cyl cummins, but never thought of putting one in mine. Room due to intercooler and turbo pipe and all that. I would have suped up that engine If I would have done that. I would have had black smoke wherever I go. Awwww., the fantasies....

What did it come out of?

A wrecked '04 Kubota tractor that was being used to excavate a tree that promptly fell on it and crushed the chassis, but left the engine intact. Four-cylinder 3.9L 4BT Cummins diesel engine.

That is awesome, twin turbos, I know they had a tough time getting it into that engine compartment. There is only so much room I don't know how they do it. Amazing.

I don't know, but they sound a like to me, both have that bone chilin rumble, compared to a quite duramax and a rattling powerstroke. Cummins just has the perfect sound. I like when they first start up. Gives me the chills.

I was lookin into the swaps on them, it is nothing like putting that 4.3 in mine, well kind off, but you really have to beaf up the driveline for it to handle that massive amount of over 500 ft pounds of torque. Now, that might not sound like a lot, but a 4 banger 100 horse engine came out of there, so driveline is not bulletproof. The t cases are very strong though. I can't squeal those 41 inch tires with that chevy, but I would be able to having that extra oh 300 ft pounds out of that cummins.

You don't have to worry about stupid ignition wires, spark plugs, and all the electornic crap :clapping::clapping:. The amount of money I invested in it I could have spent a bit more and did a cummins. But jeez, finding an engine less than 1000 is hard.

Yeah, good point, if you read that guy with the 4cyl cummins dropped a 2500 driveshaft in, and heavier 3.08 gears in the rear.. And I can tell the difference now that I listen to them, a whole lotta difference infact..

4.3mudder
03-14-2009, 10:31 AM
Ya, it would twust my driveshaft in half, rip the axles aparts, and who knows what elde. But, mine has power now, not enough, which no one ever has enough power in a vehicle!

traded up for gas mileage??? huh? how you driving that thing? on the highway, with my programmer, my D max gets 20-21mpg. and thats with a 6 inch lift, and 35 inch tires, and calculated for the difference.

TandM
03-16-2009, 07:45 PM
well what gears do you have? I had 4:10's a banks six gun and exhaust with intake. and only 33's. On the highway I would get 18 max. 12 in town
