I have a 2008 Ferris 3100z zero-turn mower powered by a 37hp Kawasaki. I am interested in purchasing a (500lb) Brinly Lawn Roller, and I would like to know what the pulling/towing capacity is for Zero-Turn mowers equivalent to the size I have. I am aware the manual says 300lbs on a slight incline, however, can it pull more weight without damaging the hydrostatic drive units? Are any of you pulling a 500lb (+) roller with your Zero Turns?

Thanks for any info,
Tim

I know that a Dixie has a 2000lb towing capacity. http://dixiechopper.com/2009/home/models_view/5

Your mower will pull that roller easily. My concern is, is that that roller doesn't do anything. This is a smaller version. 500 lbs may sound like alot, but it really doesn't amount to anything over a 36 or 48 inch width, multiplied by the surface area of the circumference that contacts the ground. Shop for a taller version of roller. It's not the width, but the height that makes the difference. If you can find the older style that has a steel drum,...better yet. I don't know the exact height of the taller one, (I have one), but I know it's about 36" tall. THAT is what counts...Also, I sure wouldn't recommend this brand. Once these centers wear out,...you're done. Look at the Agri-fab steel unit. It is much better built. Keep the axle joints greased, and you're good to go. Mine has lasted for several years. I did strike a leak in the axle, but I fixed it with a mig welder (and square plate). Regardless, it will last alot longer. and do a much better job.
