Client we have has about an acre worth of overgrown retention pond area that he wants cleared out. We dont want to disturb the soil a lot. There are 2-3' pines in the way in some spots so we need to cut them down prior.

The area is mostly sandy soil and he doesnt plan to re-seed the area with normal grass seed. Since it is a "water retention basin", to help reduce errosion, id like to spread something down after.

We are going to heavy brush cut the larger items and saplings, take the field mower over it and then take the landscape rake and get all of the leaves, needles, debris etc, all raked out, but which is also going to disturb the soil surface.

Is there a type of grass seed, or even a wild "weed" that grows well in very sandy soils? The area is quite dry most of the season until we have a heavy rain.

The basin is also getting clogged up for its drains because of all the junk in the way washing into the grates.

They have money and don't have to go cheap on it, just want to have something done to clean up its appearance, and of course i want to have a professional outcome to the job and not just a "nice look" a soon as were done.

What have you used in the past?
