its a 1984 k30 4x4 with a 350 v8 and automatic.i had to put new corners ,new rockers ,used set of better doors, new hood ,floors etc.the motor and tranny were redone about 5000 miles ago and it runs mint,it also has a np205 transfercase with no play in it.its gonna be primered tomarrow and by the middle of next wk it will be painted a dupont lemans blue metalic.after the paints done we have to go pick up the new dump flat bed from WH ROSE and hopefully besides getting lettered that will be it.

thanks for the compliment.i used it this winter for plowing and it plows real good(very good turning radious )so i decided to restore it.i love old chevy trucks and the guy who had it before me did all the mechanicals so all i had to do was the body work and hang a new body on the back.the truck is gonna be for deliveries and i will put my leaf box and collection system from my dodge on it.i picked up a set of chrome simulators for it today and ordered new mirrors so it should look real good when its done.

Awe, I already posted pics so it wont let me again..... anyhow here is the thread, before and after pics... it was actually worse in the before pics than it looks, the crap white paint job was a cover up.

when i first got it the fenders were shot(real bad) the doors were rotted out
as well as the rockers and cab corners.the good part was my friend had allready done the motor and tranny, brake lines ,fuel lines, universals, shocks, fuel tank, radiator, brakes ,springs and the list goes on.
he also put the hoist in .his goal was to restore it from the ground up to pull his boat and he ran out of cash so i purchased it and started pulling it apart

Looks great and it looks like you did a great job on the body work!! Its hard cause you never know how good it is until you paint it.

Also, why oh why didnt they take off the passenger side door handle? it looks like they did a terrible job masking and it looks like there is primer exposed? Hopefully thats just an illusion of the chrome reflecting onto the paint but I cant tell for sure.

Geez, what a headache that bed has been sorry to hear about that. As much work as you've put into it, at this point I think I might just go a little further and built a steel bed to go on the hoist. I know around here you could pick up a bed that needed a floor and do some fab work to make it fit for about $500. Good luck with it, i'm a Ford guy but I do love those old chevys.

what do women know your better off with that old K than if you get into a new electronic truck at least that is simple to fix and probably cost less to register. the only think would be creature comforts . The reason i got the trailer is because i could have my pickup better for me when i plow and still have the advatage of dumping and hauling the bobcat around . served a dual purpose

That bed and trailer looks good. Have a good season.

stroker51
05-03-2009, 03:44 PM
Several reasons, one is that I've got 5 trucks at the moment, and only 1 and a half employees plus myself. I bought my 96 dump over the winter so I'd have a 4x4 dump and a powerstroke. The old 89 made me a lot of money, and I still might restore it, but it needs some front end work and eventually gonna need a tranny. Also, the IDI in that truck hooked up with an automatic isnt the best setup in the world. It does ok with a load in the on the bed, but hook up a trailer and she's pretty gutless. Basically, I've got a 96 F250 needing some serious front end work, and 84 F250 partially restored, my 01 thats good to go and my 96 dump thats good to go, just needs a V blade put on, so the project that can wait or get sold is the old 89.

the sub frame is fine , the douglas fur is the weak point and the hoist is made for a pick up.i just did this so it could be used without looking stupid.i have been welding for 25 yrs anything from triaxle floors to cat buckets to crushing plants to car and truck bodies .if i weld it its not going anywhere.if i keep the truck i would like to put a nice new hoist and body on it but i am holding off to see how the summer work goes.its almost noon and im on the computer so its not a good sign,i mowed 5 lawns this morning and no calls.

Don't mean to tell a fella his business, however if it was me I'd ask my friend before I sold his custom bike. Those kinds of things can turn akward.
