What kind of insurance do I need to get for a lawn care business.. And how much do these different types cost? I mow alone if that makes any difference.

Liability insurance would be a good start. I pay $175/year for a $500,000 general liability policy. Covers you for things such as broken windows, dinging up cars, etc... Since you're solo, I doubt you need to carry workers comp, but each state is different so I'd check into this. Get health ins. if you don't already have it. Should cover you on work-related injuries. Depending on your age and pyshical condition, disability ins might be wise. Not trying to state the obvious, but I would talk to an insurance agent.

I have researched at least 8 insurance companies. Please tell me where you get insurance for $175.00. My quotes are in the 400 to 600 bracket for a solo operation with income less than 30 grand.

Been trying to obtain reasonable insurance also. Have only received one quote of $3,668.58 per year. General Liability alone was $1,636.43. WOW. Only have 20 customers and operate without employees. Seems like I would be cutting all season for the insurance company, Bollinger.

If anyone finds reasonable insurance would appreciate knowing about it. Tried the sponsor on here twice but have yet to receive a quote.

I know things are high in New Jersey but this is ridiculous...

I have mine thru Penn National. You might find their website and see if there is an agent locator on it. They have been very reasonable to me.

I have my ins. with Farm Bureau Mutual Ins. I don't have the details of my policy on hand, but if you're interested, send me a PM or e-mail and I'll be glad to help. I do know that this policy has a zero deductible because I made a $100 claim last year for a broken window and paid zilch. Plus my premium didn't increase.
