Sorry to start 2 threads right on top of each other. I had my first mow with my new Fastrak 54 yesterday. I have very sandy soil here in Florida, and was having to chew up a bunch of leaves. However, when I was done, I was absolutely covered in dirt and leaves. There was about a 4 inch layer of leaves/clippings on the area of the machine where my legs go. I've read about an anti-blowout kit for the Hustlers, but is one available for my machine? If not, is it normal to be covered in clippings when you use this mower?

We don't offer a blow out kit for the FasTrak / SD 48, 54 or 60" decks.
Are you using a mulch kit? or did you have the discharge blocked off?
What blades were you using?

I was using the blades that came with the mower (just bought it Saturday), so I would assume they are the standard Hustler blades. I did not have the chute plugged, and I don't have a mulch kit installed. I have a lot of sand in my yard, and the grass is thin in spots. I was also dealing with a lot of leaves on the ground, so that may have contributed to the problem. But, I was literally covered in leaves/dirt by the time I was done (1 hour).

Check your deck pitch.

I couldn't find anything in the manual that talked about what the pitch should be. My former yard tractor wanted the front of the deck about 1/4" lower than the rear. Is there some spec that I can check?

Your unit is new, you shouldn't have to worry about the deck pitch.
But you generally want 3/16 to 1/4 inch pitch from front to rear, with the front being lower.
For future reference you can download a parts and owner's manual from the link in my signature, the parts manual has a maintenance and adjustment procedure in the rear of it, lots of great information in it.
