Is it to early to dethatch lawns and get some seed and starter fert on there? Also i have the jrco thatcher on my wb, how do u guys do it do u thatch while the blades r going to bag it or do u go around without the blades on than bag it after?? thankss

I think in the next two weeks if the weather in your neck of the woods gets better. Here in Colorado, it goes from 70* one day to snow the next, so I'm just keeping an eye on the weather. Once April gets here, should be good to go. I rent a power raker from the local rental place. Those do a way better job than the blades on a tractor or mower.

It's a bit early. Grass seed will germinate in lower temps, but the germination rate is pretty low until the soil temp hits 60. I might prefer to aerate with 3 passes vs. dethatching though, and then over seed, unless you plan to use a slit seeder too. I'd also top dress. Unless you set the dethatcher pretty deep, there won't be much soil to seed contact. Depends on how bad the turf is. The worse it is, the more aggresive I would be.
