Need Help with Sodding.

I am helping a friend sod a rental house he has owned for a while. The yard is mostly sand with some weeds here and there. What steps do i need to take to prepare the site for sod? Any tools I need to rent? It is about 3000 square feet.

if possible i would get some top soil in there and spread evenly over the entire area then level to the grade you want then seed fert lime (if needed) to help spread topsoil and get the grade you want i would suggest using a power rake(harley rake)
