This is something new on the market, it was diy's 25 coolest tools. It is a track that wraps around the rear tires of your lawn tractor. There are spikes that peirce the ground to allow water and fertilizer to get into the ground like other spike aerators but this uses the weight of the tractor instead of dragging equipment from behind.

I realize a core aerator is better but I cannot afford one and this is quite reasonabley priced. Is this a waste of money or could this work and be beneficial to my lawn?

someone posted a pic of what you are describing a few months or so ago. I thought it was a joke, and I believe so did everyone else. You mean to tell me it's a real deal and they actually think that something like that will aerate a lawn???

What about sidewalks, irrigation, invisible dog fences to name of few things that do not like having holes in them

No way, I wouldn't want to use it...although it would make your machine look very mad max!

What do you recommend I do since I do not have a way to pick up a rental? Is a affordable option other than hiring a contractor? How are the tow behind aerators?

Tow behinds are fine as long as it's a core and not spike aerator. Not sure of the price though. What is keeping you from renting one?

I rent one every year and its such a hassle and hard to find someone to help pick it up. Also you rush around to get the job done, and rentals take a beating so there's always problems(getting them started etc.) The other reason I am against a rental is,it's not cost effective year after year.

Can anyone recommend a good tow behind that is around $200-$300 range?

My guess is those would break in one day under hard commercial use.
